opelscott22
Picked this up yesterday, (thanks Paul!) got back with it today after an epic journey! I left Inverurie at about 4:30 and got to the other side of Coventry at about 2, loaded the car up and drove back up the road. It was all going well until I got to Carlisle and the snow came...It just got worse and worse the furthe I drove. I got past Glasgow, coming up to Perth and by this time I was down to about 35-40 mph and a bit squirmy at that! I made it to Perth and tried to get up the hill to join the M90, HA! no chance, road was white and well slippy so I had to slither my way down and find a travelodge. Luckily the snow stopped and the gritters had been out so I got back on the road and home finally!! If Im ever collecting cars again, I wont be doing it in the winter. Ive not had much chance to poke around it yet to see whats needed but I did go for a drive round the block to see what its like, went pretty well until I braked for the junction and the ECU fell on my feet!! Plans for this are tidy it up, sort the interior and get rid of the sunroof, lots of work ahead of me. Crappy Iphone pic for now, Ill get better ones when the snow stops. biffy1984
Really nice Cav Scott, will be watching this project. Be good to see her all tidied up. A guy I know up here has a totally original s reg yellow one in lovely condition but it's been outside in his garden from last winter, pity cause it'll not stay in good nick for long up here! Good luck with the project Cheers, Peter.
Mick
Good to seeit made it to a new home, yeah the ECU needs to be secured properly. The bracket for the kick panel should hold one side up, maybe weld a bolt to the underside of the washer tray so you dont have to drill it and risk water getting through. Keep us posted, goes well for an 8V doesnt it
opelscott22
Hi Mick, I think you had this car before Paul didnt you? Ive got a couple of questions...Do you know what the paint code is? I know its guards red but there is more than one listed? Also, what are the front brakes from? Im chomping at the bit to get going on this but theres about 4 inches of snow outside! Peter, wont be long till its on the road I hope. Shetland isnt known for its balmy conditions eh?! Scott
Mick
Yes it was mine before him. Cant help with the paint code, best thing would be polish the petrol cap and take it to get it matched at a paint supplier. The brakes are 2.2 Carlton Vented Discs with Alfa Romeo Brembo Calipers (cant remember what Alfa)
