399Road
Hello, All this rust will look very familiar to most Manta owners... Well done with saving this car. My first Manta restoration was also a Carmine Red GT/E coupe. The maroon car in the background looks like a Commodore to me too. Have you also seen the remains of the chopped up grey coupe in the background? Poor old bus! ..... Luke

steel
hi m8,the bonnet has been sold to someone else i think,, ime having a standard bonnet with the shell but i will be fitting a manta 400 bonnet eventually , why did you put the scoop was it to clear a bigger engine or for looks? ime buying the car of steve tittmus a member of this site im led to believe and he may be able to tell you where the rest of the car is Edited February 28, 2011 by steel
gary6303
yes i fitted a bmw 2.5 engine the bolge was to clear the inlet as it sits over the rocker cover, needed to sell the car as had a mortgage and had no money to finnish, shame as i still miss it, had the boot floor modded raised up to house two silencers new door skins fitted, roll cage and had the whole car sprayed esteril blue, cant remember the reg no, would like to know if its still alive. steel
yes i have a lot of parts to buy for it a whole cars worth but i think i prefer that ,i dont feel guilty about modifying it which i would if i had an original coupe with all the fixtures and fittings this is ripe to be turned into something
steel
picking this up tomorow ok picked it up today in better condition than i thought it would be, from a quick inspection theres a few patches by previous owners which will be cut out but on the whole its a very good base for a project it needs outer cill on p.side [rear half] floor repairs above jacking points both sides jacking points both sides front inner wing repairs rear valence rear edge of boot floor [maybe an inch all the way across] swan necks after restoring the mk1 golf for my m8 this little lot is not a problem and i think i can do the work to a good standard will get pics tomorrow Edited March 13, 2011 by steel

steel
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/E-reg-opel-manta-gte-spares-repairs-must-go-asap-/180642312277?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a0f1ef055 bought a 2.0 gte exclusive looks like its going to be a donor car for this car got the car about 2 hours ago and i think its going to be a spares car for me the roof around the sunroof is really bad and bulging on the 1 corner with bubbles running the length of the roof from sunroof back and the sunroof is seized closed, would definitely need a roof skin the inner wings are pretty solid and clean with just a bit of rust/hole on the wing mounting rail above the shock mount theres surface rust on the nose cone but solid, rust and holes on inner wing in front of door pillar but easily repairable floor above jacking points has gone good wings and bonnet but in need of painting doors are good as is boot lid good points it is an exclusive with all the right bits has the irmscher panel that goes between the rear lights has the 3 spoke irmscher steering wheel and cover and a spare 3 spoke steering wheel and boss in the boot the seats are good no rips even carpets look good once cleaned the mileage on the clocks is 86k judging by the interior i would say genuine miles it has a boot full of stuff which i need to sort through inlet manifolds interior trim rear lights square headlights ecu ect ect the alloys are good condition as are the skirts and bumper all in all if i had the time i think i would restore it but i am probably going to strip it of all its bits and make 1 good car out of this and my coupe shell that does seem like a shame i will sleep on it and decide in a day or two Edited March 23, 2011 by steel

steel
some pics in no real order theres not1 patch on this old girl never seen a welder before but will be intimate with 1 if i chose to accept the mission of a full restoration swan necks seem ok got to be a bonus but passenger side cill is bad and needs the door step section as well
steel
ime thinking due to the fact its never been welded so ime not having to cut out other peoples patches the swannecks are in decent shape both sides and altho the front jacking point have disintegrated and the fllor above them,, the rest of the floor in the car is sound as are the chassis rails the length of the car ime going to restore the exc the red coupe shell will either be put in storage or sold on as it will also make a great project its not as rusty as this car externally , but i think this exclusive need doing now rather than later and i think ime mad enough to get stuck into it your opinions are of course welcome Edited March 24, 2011 by steel
