made a start today cut the first 2 pieces of each rail with the i think correct angles , made the sleeves/crush tubes that will be fitted in the rails where the bolts for the crossmember go through and drilled the 22mm holes in the rails to accept them will sort pics l8er :thumbup

another 2 pieces and 4 cuts for each rail and i can start tacking them together

also got some 1 inch box section cut to length that will be used to brace the car before i start cutting out the original rails and to hold the crossmember in place to keep alignement of the rails

ok sod the rain braved the weather and went out put the rear wheels on ramps and supported the front of the car up of the floor so i can get to the old rails to cut them off,, and i also stripped the front crossmember down so it was bare with just the rear arms attached that bolt to the chassis rails that was a nightmare 1 of the bolts came out easily enough the d/s however was seized solid ended up cutting the head off the bolt with all the other bolts holding the crossmember undone/removed it fell out,,i stripped ithe hubs ect from while off the car then refitted the bare unit ime now ready to start bracing the car

welded the crush tubes in place after weld prepping them chamfered the edge of the crush tubes and countersunk all the holes so the weld had a decent bed to flow into means i can smooth the welds on the inside face of the rails where the crossmember sits without losing strength the longer sections are to go in the eng bay for the crossmember bolts to go through and will be smoothed both sides for a flush fit trying to get 30mins work on the manta here and there in between day to day work, training ect
