msjrb5
Hello, I recently fitted a pair or recaro from seats from a gte into my berlinetta, they are comfy enough but they seem a bit higher and wont go as far back as my old seats? I have them back as far as they'll go, it's feels a bit awkward and my knees now touch the steering wheel. I'm seriously considering putting back in my old seats. is this normal or am i missing something? cheers!
Kent A
How tall are you???I am 185 cm and if I run my Recaro seats all the way back. I can not reach the pedals and steering wheel.Have do you installed the seats with original base or homemade.
Kevin Abbott
The recaro bases have 3 mounting points to adjust the height. Yours may be bolted into the top mounts? Make sure the rails are clear and a bolt isn't stopping the rear movement. The rails are bolted to the seats so when you check the height of the 4 mounts on each corner have a good poke about the rails. Socket head bolts should be in place.

mantasrme
As said there are 3 heights the recaros will bolt to the frames at. If you want the lowest height then you will have to trim the inside front mount by cutting off the bottom hole, otherwise it hits the floor bulge before you can get the bolt through the top hole and into the subframe. Also i find sometimes when you mount the seat all the way down the slider touches the subframe enough to make the seat hard to adjust back and forth. I solve this with a bit of grinding to where it touches just to give it a bit of clearance, doesn't need much and not full length, have a look and you'll see what i mean. Also if you want to get the seat a bit further back its pretty easy. Take the seat off the subframe, look underneath and you'll see a metal plate held on with 2 screws at the rear of the slider that has the adjustment handle at the front. If you remove this plate move it rearwards 1 hole and refit it with just one screw (so the screw goes through the front hole on the metal plate but into the rear hole of the slider) you'll get 2 or 3 extra notches rearward adjustment. I'm 6"2 and do both of these mods to any of my own mantas with recaros in but i like to sit back from the wheel not scrunched up around it.

I always mount them low as possible but never has to cut anything

Pulled the seat out and adjusted the height, chopped a few bits off, moved the plate near the adjustment slider and that's it now lower and further back. Thanks everyone for the advice, that's what I like about this place, lots of helpful people Edited March 29, 2013 by msjrb5
