guysat
Please can anyone advise on glowing red manifold & exhaust Have exchanged idle control valve & made no difference to be able to start Today I stuck a new 600amh battery and she started, was quite rough to begin-with but started to smooth out after approx 1min. The exhaust note was very deep and load....... After about 3mins of running @ 1400rpm I noticed the manifold and exhaust halfway under car was glowing RED Switched off immediatly After being excited about starting (First time in along time) now wondering whats wrong. Theres no after burner fitted I realise this is a 2.4 with 2.2 injection and a fast road cam fitted, but thats still no excuse for a red exhaust.....! Been thinking about this , if the camshaft was a tooth out, would that hold the exhaust valves open while still burning fuel Edited November 18, 2013 by guysat

cam.in.head
another thing to check. the 2.2 system has a totally different injection temp sensor than a 2 litre gte. it has 2 elements rather than one. one controls the injection mixture.the other controls the idle speed (idle speed control box)the wrong type would cause a weird feedback loop & possibly make it go super lean ???????????? i assume you are using the correct 2.2 full setup.ie correct ecu, wiring, distributor & trigger box,(distributor has no centrifugal advance)(ignition advance control box, variable 3 terminal idle valve,no 5th injector.see haynes book for carlton 2.2 if req as it gives a pretty good write up on the differences over the 2 litre gte stuff. any part numbers or advice you need feel free to message me. ta

cam.in.head
you definately have the correct temp sensor. there should be a equal resistance circuit from either of the pins to earth.not just beween them.
paulmanta
Exhaust blocked.

Thats something I haven't checked, as the thermostat housing is from a Monza. I don't have a temp sensor connected to the radiator temp sensor as yet Exhaust is definitely not blocked, new Jetex Edited November 19, 2013 by guysat

Large smile on my face Taken me 2.5 years to find that one out, Sensor has to feed ECU & Idle control units Thank you so much, Pint on me @ billing Edited November 21, 2013 by guysat
