tocca
Hey guys, going to be welding my diff up tomorrow, just wondering what the score is with removing. Can I take the half shafts, out rear casing then drop the diff out?

tocca
Was gonna do it in place bud ran out of gas. Do I need to set anything up after refit? Any torque settings for the four bolts?
Retro Power
if its just welding up and putting back without disturbing the pinion nut then no, nothing to set up. Torque setting is in the manual but that's at work and I'm not!
MANTAMAN
this post might be too late and the deed has already been done, but i would suggest not welding up your diff. unless your running huge power or using it on gravel rally satges then traction should not be a problem in most situations, if you are and your skint then weld it up. much better to put in a limited, you can get them from Gripper diffs, this way you'll keep the Manta's fine handling, weld up the diff and you'll get understeer. Retro Power
i'm guessing he's drifting!
tocca
Diffs welded up, easy job really. Would have been easier in place but nicer job removing it. Was a mare to get out of my garage as its tight from yard to lane. No way on earth could you drive one daily. Goes sideways a lot easier now. Cant wait to do a drift day now! GTEPETE
I would guess you need to arc weld it rather than mig?
lamchop77
No!!! you can do it with mig. Done quite a few now, but you do need to put plenty of weld in to join the planet gears together not just a few spots. Still got a manta one that i did a few Years ago.
