Fermanta Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Do Retropower do exhaust systems? I am looking for a system ony for a GTE coupe, already have a four branch manifold. Been looking at them on Ebay...has anyone any favourites? Edit: Found this from Sportex, £217 plus p&p. http://www.sportex-exhausts.com/Opel-Manta-Performance-Exhaust-System-TO11/cat/19/sub/0/subsub/0/product/484 That's for 2.5" Tailpipe. 3.0" is an extra £39.00, is it only the tailpipe that's different for that?? This one is £140, from Peter Lloyd rallying: http://www.peterlloydrallying.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=146&product_id=1153 Edited September 9, 2014 by Fermanta
Mickfrad Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hi all I ordered and payed the £139.00 for the coupe system from Peter Lloyd a couple of days ago. Bargain I thought as this included postage. I received an email today saying it was advertised wrongly and should be £175.00. He won't budge on price even though it was his mistake. Has anyone dealt with this company before ? As I'm not sure on the quality and customer service would I be better off spending more for a known system. Cheers Mick

Cheers Mick Well if it were me I would be telling him where to stick his exhaust, not your problem it was advertised wrongly, he should at least honour that price, if he's not budging get your money back and take your business elsewhere and make sure you tell them that! 1
Fermanta Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Edit: Found this from Sportex, £217 plus p&p. http://www.sportex-exhausts.com/Opel-Manta-Performance-Exhaust-System-TO11/cat/19/sub/0/subsub/0/product/484 That's for 2.5" Tailpipe. 3.0" is an extra £39.00, is it only the tailpipe that's different for that?? Hmm. Sportex at @ £256 plus p&p for 3" was a bit salty for me, so I ordered one from Peter Lloyd - it was £139 plus £20 p&p. (I'm in Ireland so fair enough) Got it two days later, 3" pipe and made by............................. Sportex! Very happy with it tbf.
Mickfrad Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hi So fermanta you got yours for the £139. he must of then realised it was to cheep, just didn't update his site. Just annoying to be told it was going to cost an extra £35 if I still wanted it. Would have Been nice to have at least been offered a discount. Have you had a chance to fit it yet, I don't want to bite my nose off to spite my face, the price is still good if the fit and quality is there.
Fermanta Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hi Mick, My car has a four branch manifold fitted so didn't use the downpipe but the rest of it fitted really easily. I don't have much to compare it to quality wise but the guy in the garage that fitted it for me said it seemed to be of decent quality, and said it was well made as it required little or no fettling to hang correctly. It's pretty quiet until you give the throttle a blip, then it sounds nice and raspy. Very happy with it. Give them a ring & tell them it was recommended on here by someone who bought one last week (delivered to BT92, Fermanagh) , and tell him if he treats you well you'll spread the word on here.
Mantacol Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 If the advert was up at a price and money has changed hands{you paid for it} if he is a parts dealer he must uphold the price by law {or offer you a full refund} If he is a parts dealer quote sale of goods act to him worth a try > Hope this helps Col
Mickfrad Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Unfortunately even though i had gone through the process on his site of ordering and paying for the item he never processed it his end so no money changed hands. He then contacted me to see how i wanted to proceed. I resisted the urge to tell him where his exhaust should be fitted and said i would think about it. If it was in a shop and was advertised at the wrong price they would be obligated to sell at that price, and i'm sure that it is probably the same for him. Just not sure its worth the hassle and the time it would take to try and force him to sell at the advertised price. 1
Mantacol Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 arr just like that post but you know what I mean .
Fermanta Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 If it was in a shop and was advertised at the wrong price they would be obligated to sell at that price, and i'm sure that it is probably the same for him. Fwiw, the shop is not obliged to sell it at wrong price, neither is he.
Mickfrad Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Yes sorry, until money has changed hands there has been no contract so nobody has to sell for wrongly advertised items. Shops very often do as its good customer service. 1
