jim nolan
Got a call from the owner of this coupe telling me he was about to crush this and asked me if I could look at it first to see if I could save it .. after a 3 hour round trip .its gonna be saved looks bad ,but surprisingly its very saveable , chassis legs are bloody perfect ,needs 2 doors ,bootlid ,bonnet and complete front nosecone , nice owner history on it ,so be nice to see it rebuilt and back to its family . 1981 - 2.0 litre s coupe in Bernstein gold with a light beige interior only 60,000 odd thousand miles ,origanel spec as came from main opel dealer . will post up more pics when it arrives up to me ! anyone got a pic of a coupe in this colour ,to show the owner how it will look finished ?

MANTAMAN
never seen this combination before, Berlinette interior, trim, wheels, four slot front etc and a CIH Engine on a carb, don't think they even had that combination in Europe. If this is truely in original then it might be a one off built at the time of change over front two slot the Manta, at the end of two slot run they created several odd Manta's using parts from other parts of the Opel range ( Cavalier MK 2 air filter for instance ) to make up for those parts that weren't being made any longer, but this is the other way round, surprizing that Opel put a carb CIH engine in a new four slot Manta. as for a picture of a Good gold Coupe in the same colour take a look at this thread - http://forums.mantaclub.org/topic/36521-opel-manta-18s-coupe-now-with-pictures/

MANTAMAN
It did happen. A guy I work with had a fuel injected 1800 that he bought new. WOW !! that had to be a special order, when the 1.8 Manta came out i am sure that the only 1.8 engine available was on a Carb, the first performance MK 2 Cavalier being the Carb equiped SR, the injected SRi coming later, by which time the various Manta models were set for the rest of thier production run. it would be illogical for Opel to produce the Manta GT/E and a Manta SRi both with about the same horsepower, in retrospect Opel should have gone with the 1.8 injected engine but it may have been the case that all the 1.8 injected engine supply was being used for other cars and GT/E production could continue without difficulty as it was 'already there'
1900SR
I know Blydensteins did a 18i conversion for the Manta, maybe this could be specced through certain dealers on a new car?
