Jack
I have a sqeaky release bearing on my Manta and I have been told that it is a fairly invloved job so I may as well change all the clutch whilst I am at it rather than having to do it all again. Dont think it makes any difference what Manta it is but it is an early GT/E Hatch:
Julian
Is that a fact Jack? All Manta clutches are the same? That's another thing I didn't know!
rutts
you need the 5 speed clutch kit for a GTE. don't get 4 speed or 1.8 clutch kit.
paulmanta
Not being funny but if you cant master a window winder mech then please don't try a clutch ! The year of the mantas manufacture makes a difference to the clutch parts used so watch out for getting the wrong part, the friction plate could be one of a couple of diameters and the pressure plate could bolt on with 4 or 6 bolts and could be different diameters. I advise getting a proper garage to take out the rubber inspection grommet in the bellhousing and squirt a small amount of motorcycle chain lube on/into the release bearing and see if the squeak goes away. I suspect it will. Much like the winder problem, lubrication may well be the key here. Everyone likes a clean shiny car but they need oil/grease to make sure they work.
