Roy
Hi can anyone recommend a decent quality car cover for my hatch that is losing its lockup in the next few weeks? The cost of the garage is simply too high to justify anymore on a car that has been partially stripped and in primer for about the last 5-6 years! I've had it since 93 though so I'm not letting it go just yet. I need a cover that can withstand windy conditions without falling apart or blowing off, won't microblister the paint and will keep the car dry. Oh and won't break the bank. All recommendations welcome... I've popped the same question on the FB forum by the way. cheers in advance Roy
Jack
I have this one for my Hatch: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Opel-Manta-Hatchback-100-Waterproof-Car-Cover-/400952734704?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d5aa533f0
plumster
Hi Jack, is it a good fit, the ebay picture is a bit crap to say the least.
Jack
It fits tight as it should do and it has reinforced washers on each side. There are 2 or 3 breather holes on the roof and bonnet and it is a fully waterproof on too as it says on the description. I haven't been using it for a month or so due to good weather but I think it's a decent one and is a good tight fit so it won't blow off or scratch. Shug
Best car covers are breathable, which means they can let water through in heavy rain, but a wet car can still dry out with it on. A non breathable one will probably cause condensation. Either way, for a car still in primer that's not good.
Roy
To be fair, 95% is still in paint (cr@p paint) but is painted in a crazed version of dark monaco blue. I sandblasted areas of the nosecone, inner wing to nosecone seams, parts of sills and a replaced a rear arch. Those bits are in red oxide still. But I've received sound advice about just giving it a quick blast with a rattle can whilst it is still waiting for work to continue, so I will probably do that.. robah
I think it depends how much you want to spend on the cover as well, I have my manta under https://www.autopyjama.com/auto-storm-uk/ and it is worth every penny to me as I don't have a garage.
