dog321fish
Should my 1983 1.8s Manta have an engine earth strap? and if so where is it located please ?
®evo03
Something is telling me gearbox area, an xtra long stud, to engine block, a bolt with another tread to loop strap on then secure with nut, then it goes to inner swan neck! If you have a swanneck Edited March 25, 2018 by ®evo03 fingers too big
robah
Not sure on location on 1.8 but they should have a strap from the engine to chassis (not 100% on location without looking) The OMOC Microfiche shows 2 different lengths, one at 210mm GM 08932204, and one at 310mm GM 11060242, which I think is down to engine type, is the 1.8 engine block thinner? Ems
Yes, you're correct - one from the gearbox to the swan neck and one from the engine block, below the exhaust manifold to the cross member bolt that comes through the chassis leg on the passenger side inner wing. ®evo03
Think the older cih b's and gtes has one from engine block to chassis near front suspension.
dog321fish
Thanks all, went for easiest option first and changed the braided copper earth from battery to chassis for a heavy duty copper one. This seems to have sorted my intermittent starting issue. Cheers
