Mickfrad
As the title says what is it and a what does it do ? My headlights started coming on when I braked, getting brighter the harder I pressed then fading out gradually. After checking all the earth’s I remembered this box tucked up in the passenger footwell. Unplugging it has sorted my problem and everything appears to be working ok. So what have I lost and should I just bin it and save a little weight ?
Danny D114BCW
Bin it, save the weight. It is for hot countries where the headlights have to be on during the day. This stops them/wiring overheating apparently.
®evo03
Think it also drops the voltage should you leave your lights on. Who leaves their lights on? So if it drops your voltage, the battery will be dead in 8 hours opposed to 4? Seems you have fixed your fix.
Sutty2006
Yup dim dip relay. Send it into the scrap bin.
Mickfrad
Will leave it disconnected then, my headlights used to have a faint glow when sidelights were on so that was probably due to this then. Never liked the look of that. The part number brings some up on eBay, not sure it’s a buzzer though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-NOVA-Astra-HEADLIGHT-RELAY-WARNING-BUZZER-TRANSFORMER-GM-90274651-/233859230516?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
