RetroRob
After letting my gte sit yet again for nearly a year , it's got some electric faults, not all the time when I press the brakes the side lights come on and the hazard lights don't work just glows on the dash when I put the hazards on , any ideas would be appreciated..cheers Rob
chrisb
Sidelights when braking is the dim/dip relay in the passenger side footwell behind the kick panel, just unplug that and bin it, That will cure that, common problem on the exclusive 2
®evo03
Had similar issue after rebuilding something, remember it was the rear lights earth's affecting the headlights.
cam.in.head
yes earth connections can affect many other items in strange ways. if you have a bad earth on anything the electric will find its best path of lowest resistance back to earth.if that happens to be through other bulbs it will make them glow. same reason that a bad engine earth strap will melt a clutch cable ! for the static hazard light i would just check the cleanliness of the fuses. the holders are not particularly strong and the 2 dissimilar metals create corrosion eventually.worth popping a new set in every few years. also try repeatedly operating the hazard switch. they often only get used once a year for the mot so can get dirty inside .
