Nik Pap
Evening all this is my second post in this forum and I hope your Opels/Vauxhalls are running well. Recently since I'm moving out of my small little town into a much bigger one for university I've been wanting my manta by my side and the only thing keeping me from bringing the old girl with me is the fact that both door locks are stuck. I can put the key into the passenger side lock but it won't turn and the driver's side is stuck at an angle so the key won't even go in. I took out the passenger door lock and submerged it into diesel in hopes of it dissolving the grime and rust enough for the lock to turn but after 2-3 days there was no such luck. So if y'all have any suggestions on how to make it work and most importantly how to disassemble the cylinder so I can take a closer look and find out what the problem is without breaking the plastic thingy which holds the wire for the actual lock I'd really appreciate it. Sorry for any grammatical or linguistic errors of any kind English isn't my first language. Thanks in advance for any and all answers and good luck in all y'all's future mechanical endeavors. cam.in.head
hi . this is an unusual problem . never had it before . you sound like you are doing the right thing anyway . maybe submerse in wd40 ( or some kind of penetrating oil) you need to free them really before you try to dismantle them although you might not need to in the end

Mickfrad
Hi, sounds like your locks are just stuck in the barrel the diesel or penetrating oil and wriggling back and forth should do the job. These do come apart with a couple of little screwdrivers to remove the split washer on the back. Fiddly job but easy once you see how. 3

Hi and thank you for the reply I'm still hoping disassembly of the barrel won't be necessary but it does look like it will also I get an error message attached to your reply saying I can't see the image cause I don't have permission to see it. Thank you for answering
cam.in.head
you won't see the image if your only a website member ( like me) definately try to soak them to free them up . this should work . the arm does just prise off / clipped into place but it's so easy to snap the lugs due to age. don't unless absolutely necessary

Thank you all but if anything else pops into your minds please share it with me as I am stumped.

hoobby
i would give the barrel a few sharp taps now and again while soaking may break up a bit of corrosion and allow it to soak in a bit more
