Bosch Alternator Part Number

Hi can anyone help with a Bosch part number for the alternator fitted as standard to a 1.9 1977 'B auto ? My local motorfactor is willing to help me source a more powerful upgrade for it but he wants the original part number. Unfortunately its worn off the label on mine.

These are the numbers I have for a 45A alternator as fitted to Mk1 Cavalier between 1975-1981:

No guarantee of accuracy but maybe it's a start.

The Bosch site lists it as 0 120 489 630 {K1®14V 20/45A} but NLA

They list the above number for both 45A and 55A versions.

They also list the alternatives as:

0 986 030 830

or

0 120 489 111

Roy,the Bosch number you need is 0120489108.It is the standard 45A alternator fitted in your car.

I am currently searching for a bigger one for my exclusive,if you need another code let me know.

1982-1986 senator 2.5 have a 65amp bosch version that still uses the normal aluminium mount.i beleive higher models use 80 odd amp one which will fit but you need the larger cast mount & a different `threaded` adjustment bar.also of course the car will take a larger battery than the standard 063 size. up to a 071 or dep on make a 075 size.

That's the same number that's fitted on my 1977 1.9 Cav also, and according to the previous owner it is OE.

I'll go as big as I can get Amp wise then I won't have to worry about using fans, electric screen heaters, lights etc through the winter. Couldn't believe the price of decent size batteries now

Have you checked the price at your Vauxhall dealer? Don't forget to take your little yellow card with you

The part number for the 65amp is 0120489112, which is no longer available, but a recon is available, and the part number for that is 0986041600, at a cost of £180.00 trade, retail price I do not know. so if you go looking for an used one it should have the first number stamped on it. ie 0120489112. That info has come from my son, who works for Bosch. Hope it is of some help to you.
