rutts
email drew on here he will tell you exactly what you need to do. just a taster get a bush made up for large monza rear bearing to fit on rear of manta stub axle. get front of your hub machined deeper for front bearing to sit 5mm further into hub. or buy two hubs made of ally off TJM with 5 stud pattern that take standard manta bearings makes it simple. the choice is yours
ASCONA-HOLIC
I am into the same conversion in my ascona b. Concerning the front, the easiest and best solution is two hubs from TJ Motorsport, which are the same with the original ones but are 5-stud. So you do not need anything special in order to fit them. It is a straight forward replacement. I have already ordered one pair! What are you thinking about the rear axle? I am currently searching any solutions.
GTEPETE
Something like these?
poddy
hello GTEPETE , has someone done this and is it a safe option ?? what thickness is the plate ??
GemBoy
yep, it is safe if made properly, i have a turner around and he told me he can make sets up to 48mm wide (but he preferres steel, not alloy), i will probably take them to wider back of my Manta, but it's just to get car wider, it will still have 4x100 bolts pattern. he make also 4x100 -> 5x ??? conversion kits for vw maniacs around, but the problem is, as you can see on photo few posts ago, the new pattern must be at least 5x114 or something like that, if its smaller you cannot fit 5x pattern on top of 4x pattern cause one of each will be at the same spot (i cannot explain this better, since i dont know english well ) he told me also that he made some sets 4x100 -> 5x100 but in this case in 5x pattern only 4 holes are bored, because of problem i wrote above, personally i don't think its safe and i would not use them.. Cost of them (in Poland at least ) is around 8pounds for each one (around 25mm wide, just to convert to different pattern) to 20pounds for 48mm widening ones. poddy
right folks about to sort the 5 stud conversion , is the front stub axle long enough to hold the 5 stud hub or is there some machining to do
simon p
Get re-drilled hubs from TJM. they're available so it's its the only option to go for. They bolt straight on.
Kevin Abbott
See this is why a wiki is needed so people can see questions that have been asked over and over No offence implied to poddy, it would make the forum less plugged with peeps asking about brakes and diffs etc
poddy
ah well i suppose i can figure it out for myself ........................................................................................................................................................................ rutts
a no need to figure it out look at post above the answer is there. outer bearing needs to have the hub bored/machined 5mm deeper to allow the hub nut to fit and have the split pin fitted. rear bearing needs a bush for the monza bearing to sit on to make up difference of manta stub axle to monza bearing. b join club as web user or full member and answers are available from lots of old posts and stickies c moderators make a nice place for non members to have a taster of masses of info on modifications and conversions.

I used monza hubs machined as Andy said and it cost me £200. I also got a pair of alloy hubs The alloy hubs make the monza ones look shit
