Hi

Im using the analternator from a Frontera 2.4 on my CIH engine and the bolt offset is different from the 2.0l alternator and its also bigger so i don't have much room for adjusting the tension on the belt.

I dont want to have something made so is there one off another CIH engine that will fit and give me more adjustment and if there is does anyone have one??

Thanks Andy

Last couple of times i've fitted physically larger alternators i've taken 2 standard CIH alternator brackets

Chopped them and welded them to make one longer bracket with a slight bend to reach around the larger body alternator.

Yes you will need the complete set up from a straight six motor that had a 90 amp alternator. Not only is the top an adjusting bolt but the main bracket that bolts to the engine is also bigger, bottom mounts stick out further if you catch my drift

Thanks guys.

Its a 70 amp one and i did a quick fit and the alignment didn't look to bad with the standard bottom bracket. But will do a proper fit up and check. Anyone know a part number for the 3.0l 12v bar?

I did plan on doing that but only have about 1/2 inch adjustment and didnt know if this would be ok long term as once adjusted i wont have any more room to adjust if the belt stretches over time.

But i suppose its probably cheaper to just replace the belt when it gets to that point :-)
