dog321fish
Hi I have lost my garage facility, so the Manta will be on the drive over winter. Is it best to put a cover on it or just put a good coat of polish on it and leave it uncovered ? Cheers Dave S
cam.in.head
everyone will have their own opinon on this but mine would be to do as you suggested. all cleaned with a good waxing.make sure its not clogged up with mud underneath to hold moisture.then i would leave it uncovered & on solid ground(tarmac, concrete etc)not on grass or soilwith plenty of airflow around & under.if you can leave it without having to move it at all then supporting the suspension/keeping tyres off the ground would be an advantage.do not be tempted to run the engine regularly.this only encourages condensation. Sutty2006
Stick a love glove over the tail pipe, to keep moisture out of the exhaust system

taylorblue5
I bought a great but cheap car cover on ebay. Its heavy with elasticated ends and is fleece lined. Think I spent about £35 and its more than worth it. I had my car on the drive before over winter and this really helped as its waterproof and doesnt let moisture in but can let it out. As mentioned before make sure the cars clean underneath aswell as on top. Id also place a bucket of rice inside to catch the humidity. Im fortunate as I now have a unit to store my car as it was open to the elements for years.
tocca
Problem is with most car covers, when they get wet they can cause the paint to blister out in the elements. Personally, outside id leave it without the cover on..
garymanc
whatever you decide i would remove the front carpet and sound deading , i don't think there is such a thing as watertight manta when i used to leave mine uncovered i would dry it off asap battery tray, washer bottle area inner wings in the boot area now its covered still check on a dry day and will leave windows open if its really dry don't forget they rot from the inside out
dog321fish
Thanks for all the advise, the local council have decided to rent me a garage after all. So it is now undercover and up on blocks (Once I got it started !). Cheers Dave Edited November 6, 2013 by dog321fish
