Engine Fitting

My engine should be ready in a few weeks.

What's the best way to install the engine and gearbox (1.8 box & XE), bolt them together and fit in one go or fit them separately?

Thanks

I fitted mine together, but you need a high enough engine crane to get the correct angle on the box. You may also need to jack the car up as the box might hit the floor on approach. Make sure theres no oil in the box if you do.

If you have a ramp/pit or can get car high enough off the ground, fit the engine, then fit the gearbox afterwards from underneith. Ive put gearboxes on lying on my back with my feet guiding on the bell houseing to guide it in. just dont drop the prop flange on your chest ;)

It all becomes very easy if the angle of the engine and box can be controlled and / or have the back of the car raised on stands

I've always found if the crane could lift an engine over the front panel it was high enough to lift an engine and box over.
