I have been looking into different engine mounts for my XE conversion.

I have a pair of these that I was thinking of using

decided to go with a pair of these, new old stock Omega A / Carlton 16v mounts, pretty easy to find as well.

ok if not a balls out car as engine wobbles about a bit with those fitted but no real vibration through car.

Cortina 2.3 engine mounts are good but vibration is higher.

one of each is good though as most have found. ford on inlet side Vauxhall exhaust iirc.

could be other way as a long time since I did mine.

The round mounts from omega A/ carlton 16v were found on some mantas as standard.

While they look better than the top picture V type they can rip apart just the same as its not a solid lump of rubber, the middle actually pulls up and out

Its the NS mount of the car that takes the abuse because of the rotational forces of the engine, especially if it has a more powerful engine and is driven aggressively (especially on standing starts)

I use heavy duty solid rubber 50mm thick mounts listed for capri/escort's etc on the passengers side and a standard one on the OS

Haven't ripped any mount apart with that setup with a 16v, lsd and plenty of abuse on the road and autotests etc.

All good, how you getting on with the Abbotts Mancona Hatch?

Yeah I had two mantas fitted with the round type on the CIH exhaust side and a 1.8 with both V types one each side. If I wanted it hard I would just fit the delrin bobbins and be done with it, or get a set of custom urethane ones made up.

The V type sag like your grannies paps, most rubber ones do with age, even the bobbin type.

But hey how hard are these to change over anyway when they need replacing, it's basic maintenance.

Yep, I used to shred the round mounts so used to replace with either standard "old style" the same as found on the drivers side or when I could get then the 3.0 straight 6 version of the same mount as it was 50% bigger and a 100% straight fix
