Rear fog light bracket repair

Hi. Was looking at the rear fog light bracket which I'm not sure whether it's just general wear or due to having been knocked a few times - poor design GM! Seems to be getting a bit soft and flexible. I'm just worried about it snapping off

My Thoughts are I could get it welded but that would mean removing the bumper etc etc as I would worry about the paint getting damaged with all the hassle involved

Or I wondered if a layer of solder along the soft bend would do the trick

Thoughts and comments please

Thanks in advance !!

Personally I don't like the standard fog light. Looks like an after thought !!

Some move the wire to the light cluster  put a fog light bulb in spare reverse light

or I've fitted a fiesta xr2 rear fog light in place of the original.

What's the legality of doing the light cluster transfer as I quite like the sound of that - would you need to change the lens as well

Do agree it looks like a friday night after thought.

Thanks for the ideas.

Had the same idea:

drilled some holes and changed the the electrical wires (this is a left-hand driven car)

Drilled some more holes to vent the heat of the light bulb (led bulb is a good idea!)

Never had problems with MOT

Hi Kal,

I had at that moment no other colour...

The red wire is earth, sorry for the misunderstanding. Because I had to make the big hole for the socket the earth to the

rear-drive-light (how do you name it in English...)was broken. This is also the earth for the fog-light.

The purple wire is the + to the fog light connected with the wire you will find in the trunk.

About the fog lamp: in 1975 the fog lamp was no obligation in Germany, so a lot of German cars didn't have it.

Grts!
