all mine have done the same.

be patient. its just the internals getting sticky through lack of use.a little wd and some vicous prodding / tapping always got mine to work properly. easier with  the red knob removed .

sorry if you have already tried this a million times but it does work on my 2

Yeah, it’s pretty amazing the amount of gunk that does ingress over the years. If possible remove and manipulate the angles whilst spraying good aerosol contact cleaner into the switch to flush it out works.  WD40 even do a special version now ! Just about double what it can be purcgased for from Farnell etc.

For initial cleaning of bits like this I use carb cleaner or brake cleaner. It lifts the grim and floats it away. When it’s evaporated 30 seconds later I spray with WD40 or PTFE spray.
