No mate, the only real difference would be if it’s got 2 bolts at the front of the head that go into the timing cover. However if it does not have these and you want to fit a later head, then you can also swap timing cover too if you wish. Otherwise all heads from the sane era fit, including later ones. Best thing to do is get a picture of your head or front of engine timing cover or ask the Mechnic if it has 8 head bolts and 2 that go into timing cover as per pictures showing an Early and Later type

Grab yourself a cuppa and watch Charles' video on the Opel CIH. This will explain most of the differences in the heads, timing covers and bottom ends.
He does a great series of videos on Youtube, so probably worth subscribing, if you haven't already.

i beleive the very early heads (rounded front)where only fitted to late 60's and early 70's cars anyway so a 77 wouldbe a normal ! head.  nothing later than maybee 78 as they stopped 1.9 engines then.

physically another head would fit from a 2 litre but unless someone knows otherwise it would drop the compression too low.so hopefully someone on here will have a correct 19s head.

Yes you’re spot on mate. A 2.0s head does have the same chamber volume of 53.5cc so it would drop the CR a little ~4%

However, going to a GTE head with added benefits of unleaded valve seats, would actually increase the CR due to its smaller chamber volume.
