Jessopia74
Green wire from coil pack is tach output, it’s not a live feed as such. Does needle flick on startup or anything?
SCBESH1
No it doesn’t move at all.
Jessopia74
Do you have a multimeter? You can do a basic check at the back of your gauges with a multimeter. But if it’s GTE and runs fine, then the tacho signal is present as it also feeds the fuel pump relay for RUN signal.
hoobby
could be worth a look at if you have no luck.

cam.in.head
for wiring check and power you can remove the dash top and front binnacle to access the tachometer. it can be unscrewed and pulled out of the dash. you are left with 3 terminal sockets one will be live with ign on ,one will be negative permanently and the other should have continuity to the green wire at the coil ( test unplugged to avoid any false readings) if all is well and engine runs normally anyway then it sounds like a tachometer issue . rare thou ! ®evo03
I had a intermittent rev counter a few years ago, it would drop, and then reset, not very often, I don't know if it's coincidence, but I rebuilt my alternator, and cleaned all connectors, rev counter is sorted, 👍
SCBESH1
Thanks everyone, I will do some more investigating and see how it goes. 👍
