thats impressive for a rover powered car.

gonna have to pull my finger out and get my big block powered manta done.

Must agree HotRodder, that is a ridiculously good time for a Rover V8 powered car, would love to know more of what has gone into the engine build on that.

A BIG Block Manta, ooer, now that would be nice for straight line performance and the noise... Oh Yes[:P] Just can't get my head around the weight of the Big blocks though.

17.5 is actually quite respectable for a 20 yr old 4 pot its better than i thought it would be. and yes that does seem ridiculously quick for a car with a rover lump. Must have spent some serious money on it to get it to do that I would have thought it would be cheaper in the long run to just go for 350 or 383.but saying that sometimes half the fun is just seeing how much you can get out of an engine with all it weaknesses like the cih lol.

Must agree it is nice to see how much you can squeeze out of an engine.

The nice thing about the Rover V8 though is the sheer weight of it, if I remember correct it is something like 20lbs lighter than the CiH engine.

So if you can turn the Rover into a 5.2 litre you are only 0.5 of a litre away from the SBC but with none of the weight disadvantages.

couple that with the fact that a lot of performance items for the chevvy can be used on the Rover. wouldn't be surprised if Darren Pearts Rover block has Chevvy pistons.

and I also think that 17.5 for a standard manta is too damn good, but pretty damn sure this was the figure I was told by a friend who had been down the Pod in his standard GTE, but you know what people are like it probably turned into 17.5 from 17.99 or was 18.5[:D]

I got a 17.02 in my old red b series which was possibly running close to 150bhp as I stayed on my mates bumper up the 1/4 mile who had 163bhp from his valved manta and obviously he got just under the 17 second mark. So 17.5 fromm 110 bhp with a heavy cih lump really aint bad at all.
