Guest
About 3 years ago i bought a 84 GTE Coupe of e-bay for £50, it was a total wreck, front and rear end damage, rust in the usual places, holed in the usual places and no interior but it was a runner! The bloke was gonna scrap it but it turned into a long term project. Recovered it from South London on a dolly (wheel fell off on the motorway) and eventually got it home. Anyway to cut a long story short, 3 years later and new wings, sills, roof skin, front and rear panels, new quarters (sort of and thanks to Simon) and much welding, new shocks and springs and all round polybushed she was ready to be preped and sprayed. Hearing that Simon from http://www.suffolkcountymantas.co.uk does excellent work with Mantas she was towed away for that all important prep and spray work. Hopefully attached are a few pics before Simon got hold of her and with the pics Simon has sent since then shes gonna be a beauty! Another Manta saved from the scrappy! http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa11 ... 270035.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa11 ... 270034.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa11 ... 270033.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa11 ... 270032.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa11 ... 270031.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa11 ... 270030.jpg mk1 cav sports hatch owner, not many of us left!!!! mantamike
looking at the serious engine+ bay modifications my query is, how are you going to fix the shockabsorbers?
vauxsenb
Coil-overs would be my guess, . . . . Them wheels are summat else
simon p
Coilovers are being used along with a complete custom suspension setup. The lower arms have been shortened 55mm and the spring seat bracket has been removed an adjustable stabilizers used. The stock uprights are still there but 5 stub hubs allows the use of those loooooovly Nitrous Foose wheels, which cost the price of a small house. I have made completely new tube top are wishbones. The front badge, theres a talking point, i want to remove it too but Craig likes it and afterall, i'll building him a car, not me. The rest of the car will be clean and smooth including removing the door handles. The rear spoiler is going aswell. A smoothed out and rechromed set of bumpers will go on.
