Diesel Cav?

Thinking of a good strong economical modern enfine to fit to my cav. Was thinking of maybe a diesel? What options are out there? Was thinking omega or frontera. Ideally want to use something rwd so I can use the doner box, prop and maybe exhaust manifold.

Anyone got any ideas I'm more than happy to listen.

Thanks

Josh

If you can find a good one these days look for the old Isuzu Turbo motor from and old Cav 3 or Astra 3. Bullit proof motor that has the same bellhouse pattern as a 1.8 and no daft electric to play with and an added bonus is it will run on chip fat

Cheers

Andy

Never mind all that messing about

Fuel inject it, then LPG it.

My 328 gets about 28MPG on petrol and about 26 MPG on LPG

Last time I ran the numbers using LPG a diesel or petrol would have to be doing 50+ MPG to be cheaper to run

Some people say if you want MPG out of a BMW buy a diesel and LPG is wrong but what they fail to appreciate is it still accelerated like a petrol so I have the same running costs as diesel but without the slowness

How easy is it to fit the Isuzu engine? Don't really wanna be messing about with custom manifolds, sumps etc.

Not sure about a swap for your astra rob.lol you would probably change your mind if you were to see the cav in its current state. Tis pretty stripped right now awaiting a restore. You going to pencoed this year dude? Taking my new manta down.

Lpg ain't released an option. Guna be over a grand to get it converted.

:D drop an Isuzu 1.7 td engine in!!! Then bolt a landrover 200tdi turbo on the side with plenty of boost, turn up the derv pump.... straight through exhaust, big intercooler and jobs a good un!! You'll be boosting for Jesus!!!!!!

People always say that and yet I did my 6 cylinder 328 for £800 and a 4 cylinder kit is about 25% less, well £618 from where I got mine.

If you can fit an engine you can certainly fit your own gas and it's less work and car doesn't even have to be off the road to do it.

Didn't someone already fit the 1.7isuzu lump and find its a taller engine which required fitting a bonnet bulge to get clearance?

Also do i not remember that engine then being removed again as it didn't suit the manta??
