gary6303
Would i need a roll cage in my manta with a 3ltr engine fitted, its only a road car, would it make that much differance to the handling.
Autocrosser
Weld in cage would Gary and a bolt in would too depending how many points you connect it too the shell. As wether you'd notice in a road car... Depend how "enthusiastic" a driver you are. Makes a big difference if you crash though.
Snowy
Check with your insurance company too. I've always found it funny that they don't care you've stuck a huge engine in your car but mention a roll cage and quite a few have a panic attack!

DAN@ADRIAN FLUX
Hi, If you any help with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line. Our modified car schemes have no issues with roll cages. Regards, Dan.

tony g
Consider where your head will hit the cage in an incident. Roll cages are dangerous to hit without a crash helmet on and although padding will relieve some of that it will still be a huge head shock. Worth thinking about. Paul Barrett
Good point Tony, that is often overlooked.

Snowy
Over looked indeed, i shall brace the shell a different way. I've never really thought about it but what did they do to stiffen up the convertibles?
Paul Barrett
Not manta, but convertable conversions ive seen and factory ones have lots of floor boxing to stiffen shell, usually a giant X brace across floor, and strengthening to pillars,
