Dave1958
Hi Manta SR Coupe 79 automatic I need a used downpipe section for a RHD car but don’t think they are available . I don’t want to swap over my existing RHD manifold in order to fit a LHD exhaust as it’s just more work and the manifold studs look well rusted in .Also not sure on steering clearance . question - is there any difference between the downpipe set on a manual car as opposed to an auto , which I have . Sportex say their downpipe set will fit a manual but not sure about an auto . Does anybody know the answer or have a used downpipe set for sale ? I’m sure somebody knows . Thanks David
Sutty2006
Manual and auto are the same I think
cam.in.head
Manual and auto are same downpipe. In fact the front section is interchangeable between all models .saloon, coupe or hatch with any cam in head engine size.the difference is the 2.0 models have a box in this section whereas the 1.6 models don’t.(1.9 ive seen with and without )still all physically interchangeable thou. if your actual downpipes from manifold are ok as they usually are it may be possible to cut off after the y joint and fabricate your own section. TheRealExile
Paul on here managed to arrange for a group buy including downpipe from Jetex last time (this was for the B though), they may be up for a similar purchase again if you can get people to join you. Edited April 25, 2019 by TheRealExile Jetex!
cam.in.head
Cannot comment about sportex as never used one but the normal one and general aftermarket parts are the same .if you go for a sportex one are they a different bore or standard. I guess really considering the difficulty in finding others it could be made to fit anyway.!
TheRealExile
Sorry mine is a Jetex, looks standard other than the oval pipe!
TJM
Had an answer from Jetex today, their downpipes are designed for left hand drive cars. Regards Tim
TheRealExile
I'm pretty sure the bulk order thread is still on here in the archives.
Shug
Just now, TheRealExile said: I'm pretty sure the bulk order thread is still on here in the archives. That might have been me. Think they got 3 orders and sorted the downpipes but had told me they'd need 5 orders min.
