Jonathan Pounsett
What holds the door check straps to the A post? Is it a bolt or a pin? Thanks
Jessopia74
IIRC it is a mushroom shaped semi rivet. The bottom slightly flared , comes out the top.

Jonathan Pounsett
Thanks Jess. Got it. Next question - where might I get a couple of those? Does anyone know their diameter and length?
Jessopia74
The best replacement I used was from a friend, he got me something that was an airframe rivet, was anodise aluminium and flared perfectly with air hammer. I know there are copper thing that are similar, but I just use a cotter pins and drill them just under the bottom flange and chop off any excess for neatness, but not really necessary tbh. Exclusive Opel
I've just got standard solid rivets in mine. Just dropped in, not flared or anything. Been there for twenty+ years and never fallen out.
Jonathan Pounsett
I was looking at the pin that goes through the bonnet safety catch. It’s similar. A domed head and a hollow shaft squashed flat to stop it dropping out. I never really looked at it before but it does the job. Simple and effective.

I’ll order some now. I hope they don’t send left-hand drive ones. Second thoughts I’ll get some clevis pins. Shipping from Edelschmiede killed it!
