I'm surprised that  only 2 people have paid a deposit.  Maybe I should just buy the other 8 and sell them

I am shocked that the club did not do this. The risk of not selling to me is a misnomer. Getting ppl to pay a deposit for years when nothing is happening is a bigger risk to the club’s reputation than any financial commitment.

The main problems I see with this panel are as follows.
1- the A and C pillars look short of the original braze line for the roof to A and C screen pillars.
2- how can you weld the roof along the drip rail?

3- are the two internal braces at B post and infront included? If not where’s the strength and how is the headlining supported ?

If you watch the making of the manta video from years ago they use a spot weld roller to weld into the drip rail.  You can’t do that with a mig.  It would distort the roof.
Yea you could bond it on but who’s gonna take that risk?

I wonder how many people want a roof? If it was 7 or more I think I would pay the deposit and hope another couple come along quick. I’m not risking it if there are only 3 roofs required (which I find hard to believe).

I think the shop and the clubs system needs a trust restoration for people to piney up the deposits. Hence it needs a bit of a leap of faith from the clubs part, money sitting in the bank is doing nothing. Spending it on giving office365 to everyone is a folly, especially when the club owns the domain and already pays for hosting..  but I digress.

The shop has turned into a fiasco and the whole issue around this other shop opening, no one even really knowing what the club actually owns or where the items are just adds to the reason why there have not been more stepping forwards to put their hard earned money into the project.

I mean, if someone was making 30quid out if it, it would be done already. There are members in the club that could easily afford to self fund it if thwarted, but why should they when the shop can’t even get stickers to someone in mainland Europe for nearly a year

I can't understand why the club didn't put out a poll, on what panels members, restorers wanted and needed.

I couldn't see roofs being needed about 10yrs ago, and projects are drying up, any left unrestored are few and far between.

As for the shop, it needs to step up the mark, and supply quicker and give buyers some confidence.

If its not working, separate it completely. Totally agree with fiasco, couldn't understand why the club asked for genuine panels years ago, from members to support something, nothing to do with the club. Very disappointing.

If a current restoration is underway and a roof is needed, a week or two lead time max, how could anyone wait a few months, years for something.
