mantageek88
Hi guys! I've had a crash with my manta couple of months back. A car was cutting corners and crashed right into me. Luckily no one was injured, and now I'm thinking of restoring my manta since it was my grandpa's car and has a special place in my heart. In the crash the whole front end was damaged. Chasiss rails are bent, front subframe is cracked even the steering rack cracked in two places. The engine seems to be alright though. Since I know that the ascona and the manta are essentially the same car I'm wondering can I use the ascona chasiss rails, maybe even wheel arches and all underbody panels except fenders and front bumper of course. Thanks in advance.
Jessopia74
Ascona rails are shorter, just. But if it’s bent rails, then be best if you get shell on a jig. New original leg parts are genuinely so hard to find now, if at all.
mantageek88
Thanks for the response! I know that it would be easier to find a rolling shell, but since I'm based in Croatia it's impossible to find manta's and manta parts for sale, so I'm exploring all viable options. cam.in.head
yes the front rails should straighten unless very bad. you would be suprised how easy they move without panels on . doesnt take much of a sideways knock to move them ! mantageek88
It's very bad. The car was hit in the front left fender and the whole front end is warped and destroyed. From the A pillar to the back the car's fine but it's gonna need a whole new front end. Financially it doesn't make sense to repair the car, but because the car is very special to me I'm gonna try to repair it.
