Sutty2006
Looking good! Can i ask a really stupid question? How many mantas are there with air con? Did we not get it in this country? ------------ Drift on!!!! OMOC 6081
2908642343
Sutty2006; It is not a stupid question, in fact it is a good question and unfortunately i do not know the answer, so will start to do some investigation and see if I can find out. CalCol
Actually, that's an easy answer... Air con was only available for left hand drive Mantas, and even then it was a rare option. I've never seen air con in a RHD Manta other than Jo's Exclusive, which I put in in 1991. So other than that, there's John's project here and my silver B series, both of which are being rebuilt at the moment. We're all using the standard Manta air con, adapted for right hand drive. Strangely, some of the Exclusives had the air con heater controls installed because Opel ran out of the non-air con ones. I remember seeing one at the Motor Show and getting the salesman to lift the bonnet of the car so I could see whether it was really air conditioned or not! Sadly, the controls were there but there was nothing else. There may be other cars that have had aftermarket air con added, but I've never seen one. I remember Diavia and Alpinair both had aftermarket kits when I was investigating what I was going to do with Jo's car. The reason I didn't go with either was that they didn't integrate with the car's heating system, so basically you lost your glovebox and the unit sucked in air from inside the car and pushed it back out (colder). I guess what made it a rare option was its relative cost, compared to the price of the car. When new Mantas were going for £5000 or so, the air con option was the best part of £1000. Compare that to a £20,000 car today, you'd be paying the equivalent of £4,000 for the air conditioning! Cheers, Nick

2908642343
ATS always did manafacture a 15" alloy, the 13" was used in greated quantity here in the UK, 15" was far more common in Europe. Not sure what they were fitted to though.
2908642343
A Couple more pictures. The 400 Blitz material which is going to be used to cover the centre of the front and rear seat. The rest of the seats will be covered in leather, seats should be back end of January so will post up some more Pics. A couple of pictures as car goes of to be painted. 2908642343
It is a while since i updated and added any pictures so here goes:- Interior is now almost finished, went to have a look at the seats today and they will be ready for collection next week. Pictures of door cards will be posted up once they are done which should be about 2-3 weeks time.
CalCol
They came out looking pretty good in the end, John. What are you doing with the door cards? Blitz material or plain? Cheers, Nick
2908642343
Nick; The front door cards are going to be Blitz and alcantara (cant spell) lets see how well i can explain the front door cards:- Take the drivers side. You have a line / join between the plastic and the cloth, the plastic bit will be alcantara, the cloth section will be in Blitz material. The lower part of the door card ie the carpet bit and the door storage part will be as is. As to the rear cards, well still playing around wuth this at the moment as Blitz does not work, covering in a "cloth" material does not work as the rear card is a pressed section. So it might end up staying as is unless i can come up with something or some one posts up some suggestion with pictures. Anyway, it is moving on. MikeyRules
Looking great John! [8D] I was really impressed with the material when i saw it on Paul's car cushion lol... Bet they'll look ace when they're back in the car! 2908642343
Mike; Expecting it out of the paint shop by the end of the month (fingers crossed) The pictures i took of the seats do not really do them justice, they are stunning and when they are fitted back in it will look stunning [^][] The paint shop have all the black trim to strip and repaint to, they moaned like billio about it but i am only going to rebuild this car once. Car should be on the road by April / May. Will have the daunting task of trying to get it valued at an agreed price. John

I will [^] from ear to ear. Not sure what i have spent, not realy intrested just doing it as Manta are just so........ and need preserving....... Have been really lucky and had lots of top notch help, advice, support etc from the OMOC members and that makes a real difference to me and just encourages me to do another project. paulmanta
I like em, once fitted and you are sat down you will not be able to see the seats anyway, if its at a show the doors may well be open so its not like its too close to the seats to be too much. Only thing i am curious about is where is the hole for the internal lock sliders? "Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels"
CalCol
Can't wait to see the overall effect with the panels and seats. For the rear side panels you might want to consider using anthracite panels rather than the original light grey ones. I think that would go with the alcantara colour a lot better. 2908642343
Paul; Ah a very good question:- "Only thing i am curious about is where is the hole for the internal lock sliders" They need to be cut through the material but these will be done when the door cards are fitted. Nick Yep will have to see if i can find any "anthracite panels ". Anyone on here got a set of Anthracite Rear Panels that they wish to part with. ???? Am hoping that the overall effect with the seats and front door cards will be excellent. Mvh John
