spewy555
I`m hoping to be out around late March/April time, it all depends on the engine builder really, my bottom arms arrived today which are the 400 items but they pick up in a straight plain as opposed to the slight incline towards the centre line that the original cars had. They are rose jointed on the front end. I`ll get some more pic`s up as I go on next week. I`ll try and get some shell pics up as well for those that are interested! spewy555
Boxes are in properly now, and I`ve joined them into the chassies x-brace, I will bring the roll cage down onto them once the diff tunnel is welded into place. Not a great picture but it shows the 400 bottom arms being offered into place, I`m making the axle brackets up at the moment. The top link boxes are in properly now, Just need to attach the boxes onto the rollcage, which I should get done tomorrow. Couple of pics showing the bottom arms inplace along with the adjustable top arms. OMOC 6040
Robbie
Neat work I need some brackets. Got a question though, using the commodore lower arms like the 400 does, why not connect the top links the same way as the 400 on like a second chassis rail underneath, Is there a benefit with the channels inside the car floor. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 A Series 16V Broadspeed Turbo Replica, V8 A series, I240 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)
spewy555
Hi Robbie, It`s much like the evolution on the Escort rear suspension really, the Ascona and early phase 400`s has shorter top arms which increased length as the development went on. The longer top arms give better suspension travel, which is more relevant to a gravel car in practice. The other problem the road cars would have had with the long boxes is rear seat clearance. spewy555
Dummy fitted the engine and box into it now... Wasn`t too bad a fit, it`s a 2.3 F**D Duratec which is quite a tall engine so we had to be very precise with the sump/ bonnet clearance. Had to cut off the original engine mounts from the x-member and then make my own ones up... .. but she sits in there well!
0peli400
that does sit in there very well what rallys have you got in wales this year??

mantajock
nice job on axle , was going to do that to mine , but with a change in the msa rules in hillclimb /sprints i cant mod or cut out anywhere between the axles , this is for the road saloon modified class , if i did that i would be in sports libra , i managed to get a cwp from rally design 4.7 for the manta axle so that help a good bit, but i realy wanted to do that conversion as atlas parts are easier to get. great great job thou i like it

spewy555
Made the lightweight support frame up for the alloy floor tonight, it still needs the brackets for the dry sump tank and spare wheel holder to be put on but it gives you an idea! spewy555
Boot floor is all done now, it`s been raised up by about 3". The dry sump tank mount and spare wheel holder, and fuel pump holders are all in place.

spewy555
Cheers Bendy, it`s only `cos I`m old and been doing this for years! The diff guard and brace I didn`t make, one came from ebay and the brace was from Rally design! The rest I made though. Still need a drivers door handle !
