I think the A series axle from the cars with the 1.3 or 1.6N engines is slightly smaller, the A series axle from the 1.6S or 1.9 cars is the same as a B series axle.

Sorry Spiney_norman but you're wrong, Chris Mantaray is right the B series axle is wider. One of my 1900s has it's original axle and the other has a B series one.

Thanks all thats great i was looking for a wider one too make back end wider ,was going to go down route of banded wheels but that saves a job :thumbup

The standard wheels with 185/70 13 tyres only just clear the arches on the blue one, found a couple more pics to show it better.

You'll struggle to find anything more than heresay about it but I believe banded steels were made illegal in the UK in the '70s. I'm pretty sure this is so as I remember reading it in either one of the two hot rodding publications my bro used to buy and I used to read second hand

Oh your such a bitch Andy ,picked up a manta axle the other week but cant remember what its off.....The mx5 is the wifes (good books and all that) :lol:
