Autocrosser
Thanks Kevin, I'm going right through the whole shell doing anything that looks like it may give problems in the future coz at the end of the day it's a competition car and it has to be solid. Found this pic the other day of the car the last time it was rallied Lynn Stages 2000
Autocrosser
Got the back axle out today and most of the underseal scraped off and got the unwanted seat mount brackets and the old seat mount reinforcement plates off. Apologies for the poor pic I think the phone lens must have been covered in dust!

Autocrosser
Waiting on seat mounting rails and roll cage tube coming so got the o/s door and wing fettled so they fit a bit better And started scraping the loose paint off the bonnet. Seems this isn't the first car to wear this bonnet Anyone any advice on getting the rest of the paint off it? Or is it just sand sand and sand some more? rutthenut
Looks like a lot of work, and a lot of progress too. Any idea/plan for when you'd hope to have it ready for action? Are they fibreglass doors, btw?

Love the lightness hate everything else about them Well you are certainly making visible, and useful, progress on that shell, so kudos for that. Wish I could get more done on my car, though do not want to take it off-road for major updates.
Autocrosser
I'm just going through everything methodically and thoroughly making sure it's right. Having rebuilt one before I hope I've learned from my mistakes!! I never intended to strip it completely but I'm pleased I did as it's the only way to get into all the nooks and crannies.

Autocrosser
What can I say Kev I'm also that sad!! Tonight's progress was to rectify the diff nose/ torque tube bashing it's way through the floor due to the strenghteners on it. So cut it out and made a box to give it more room Thanks for the feedback on the progress so far it's always good to hear
®evo03
great project, and workmanship, well done taking it to this level, all your hard work will pay of in the end. one tip, you shouldn't paint her til you are completely happy with ever weld, seam, panel, etc etc. inside and out, a real nice coat of paint, and the very hard work will stand by it be great to see a manta on the stages again, must be over ten yrs since I seen one competing, ever rally in Ireland? one manta in an endless possey of escorts, etc, everyone always remembers a different car on the stages, (manta) a great position for a sponsors point of view. as a side project, have you thought of a livery, design. I would be honoured to help out if you are stuck? some ideas, and I could draw something up! Edited March 10, 2014 by brady

Autocrosser
This weeks progress N/S floor all repaired and old seat mountings removed and filled in and MSA spec seat rails welded in And got the old spreader plates removed from the O/S, it's going to need the same amount of work as water had been trapped under them and the previous owner had 4 different attempts at bolting the old seat through the floor! MicsManta
Hi, the car looks realy good and I know because I do alot of welding at work I can see alot of time and efort has gone into this project, keep it up, I live in the south west and only know of one manta 400 that gets rallyed so its good to see another manta getting into the rally scene. two questions, is that a lsd and how much if you don't mind me asking, because i'm looking for a lsd for my gte. Autocrosser
The axle I got with the car and up to 2 weeks ago was going back into it was an lsd (quaife ATB circa £600) but I've sold it to fund this one. It's a Fostek built fully floating atlas with gripper plate diff and 5.1:1 ratio linked to be 400ish. It's a fortunes worth but it will not break.
