stuartb
I have come by a Getrag Manta Geabox, I need to know what to do to find out enough to sell it at the right price can someone give me a link or a quick rundown on what numbers you need to see, if there is any stamped on it somewhere, or what things you would want to know, then I'll need to try and find out what sort of money they go for When i turn the spindles by hand, they seem tight and smooth, changes between gears with a nice positive clunk, not all loose and baggy so it seems. I have no idea what model/age of car it came from, all I know is that it was supposed to be going onto a Vauxhall red top engine, but that never happened, in the end I sold the engine to an F3 team thanks Edited October 17, 2014 by stuartb

lepo5
Sounds like you have the Manta 1.8 gearbox and could be worth a bit of money, if it turns out to be a Getrag 265 then it will be worth a considerable amount more. As Snowy said post up some pictures of what you have.

stuartb
I gave it a bit of a scrub down so you can see it a bit easier, but as you can see its still a bit mucky. nothing a bit of de-greaser won't fix
robah
If the picture isn't reversed it looks like a much sort after 1.8 gearbox and as Lepo5 said worth considerably more than a GTE box. especially with the linkage etc.

robah
Pictures are as is no reversal Any idea what's a good price for that then if it turns out to be a good one? You can try and put it on eBay and get messed around by some idiots . I'll offer you £150 for it, need one for an auto to manual converstion. Let me know if your interested. Chris. I think this is a good offer from Chris IMO, I know Chris will not mess you around. I paid £50 for a 1.8 Gearbox last year because it is stuck in a gear but that won't take me much to correct. Look through the forum for what price these usually go for then decide
Sutty2006
£150 is a good price so long as its in good working order. I payed £100 for a mint gearbox a few months ago. Edited October 19, 2014 by Sutty2006
stuartb
been cleaning it up a little more and found some more numbers on the side: I've emailed a gearbox specialist the pics to help identify it first, if its nothing special I'll let it go for 150, if it turns out to be something really desirable it'll probably go on ebay. hoping they come back to me before mid week some time. Im in no rush to get rid of it really I'm just trying to work out it's value As you can see the cleanup job isn't finished yet but I think that's all the numbers there are Edited October 19, 2014 by stuartb

Im selling it for someone (Was on long term loan from them, I tried to give it back they said just put it on ebay) so I've texted him and asked if 150 is ok, Mantaray, I appreciate the offer and will get back to you as soon as I hear more
