Mike.
I have been registered on the omoc site since July 2015 and I'm able to post, reply and interact on the forum. I continue on my quest for a manta coupe [ have been busy looking Saturday's / Sunday's on tours with my trusty welder mate but like Therealexile ] and would become a full member of the omoc at that time, what benefits would becoming a web member at the moment be, I am restricted in viewing certain progression thread pictures, would I get more information on upcoming manta sales etc? It's not the cost of membership as I think it's fine, but call me old fashioned but I like to keep some benefits and goals for certain stages, as I feel then I would deserve it! Some members of the forum would only consider selling their vehicles to other fully paid members first, before selling to general public. I notice this on other forums so not just an OMOC thing. With demand for certain marques of vehicles these days sellers have the choice to be picky on who buys their cherished vehicles, doesn't always work but 95% chance of your old vehicle staying on the road. I will always look at giving deals on some spares I have to fully paid up members, as members had done for me. I also got the initial deals on Silicon Hoses by JS Performance done with discount for OMOC members I know I have benefited 100% by being a member for nearly 10 years and have meet some fantastic OMOC forum people with the same enthusiasm for these cars. Like the previous comments mention full membership opens new avenues and deals

There use to be a few Manta owners up North, as I have had great dealings with them like "Lepo5" when I lived near Elgin.
Mike.
How much interest in manta's up north here in Aberdeenshire? I have chatted with a few in and around Aberdeen. I was in Elgin not so long ago with work, and as always on the look out for manta's tucked away or out for a run but they are a rare sight on our roads up here. robah
I had heard of about 5 or 6 members some with multiple Manta platforms in their possession. Quite a few were in the Aberdeenshire area, I left the North of Scotland 8 years ago so a lot could have changed in that time. I think there is a member in the Elgin area at the moment and there are a few across in the Inverness area

GerryC400
Hi Mike, There was a couple of mantas in Inverurie 3 - 4 years ago, 1 chap sold up a really nice 400 project he had started and moved back to Fife, the other car was a monaco blue hatch, it had been advertised on Ebay some years ago maybe 6 , it was around for a while ,I haven't seen it in a good while now. Stonehaven had a couple of guys , again it is gone quite guy went by stark motorsport. There is a green coloured 400 replica up near Banff ,I think it might still be on the go, I think it was for sale at one point. There is a Red 1800 hatch in turriff area. There was Karen in Huntly ,I think she still got her car, coupe she bought down south a few years ago. There used to be a Courtney turbo hatch in a bodyshop along great western road opposite general george.........again haven't seen it for years. The guy that had it was planning on getting it back on the road.............it must be 10 years ago since I seen it. There is the Manta A across on Victoria road in Torry, never met the owner, but the car has been worked on over the past few years, I think its a polish chap that has it. I heard that there may be a hatch being restored in Kintore, but I haven't seen or heard anymore since last year. As you know , there is Mark Balmedie ,myself Newmachar and Jim Montrose Rod also. Guy in Peterhead Paul ,long time ago I met him , think he is still on here. Sharpwood spares had a coupe laying for a while, guy sold it to someone to restore it I believe. Used to be a yellow Cav hatch at Kwik fit Elgin ,a few years ago, its disappeared. more recently, jim sold a 16valve coupe to a guy in banchory, it was back on ebay a few weeks later, I don't think it sold so it might appear on the road this year. Its a bit of a hit and miss up this way to be honest, but you never know what might come out of the woodwork. Hope you get a motor in the future. I ave been working steady on my cars this past few months now that I am able again. Stripped and rebuilding a red top for my 400 R although I got a lot of bits to upgrade my CIH that's in my 400R , so I am keeping my options open at the moment, I fancy twin webbers on whichever engine I go with just for the noise. The v8 is ready fpr test now, so I will get it done soon, I had a steep learning curve with 4 barrel holley ,that I finally got it running , just hoping the emissions will be O.K . Jim s been busy with his coupe as well, might be going for paint soon , now that the welding is finished and the prep is done. Marks motor.............is a long way off just yet. That's about all I can say for up this neck of the woods ,over the past 20 years that I have had mantas . Rgds Gerry
Mike.
Went to look at a genuine i200 approx 3 weeks ago, absolutely beautiful motor I did check the vin plate 188 on it and blitz interior but a deal could not be worked out, the seller was a top lad, but I did come away thinking I really want one, they don't make cars like that any more, full of character! Wow she was special!
GerryC400
not many mantas about , especially i200. Maybe you should have another look ,now you have had a bit of time to think.. playing devils advocate here , am I?
Mike.
I have been in touch with the lad after I looked at it and he said he is going to keep her and put her back on the road again,[ I respect his decision] hence why a deal could not be done, probably could not let her go! She had the green tinted windows, back ones opened, instrument needles orange, high lift cam and looked like it was sitting low. 400 boot spoiler + the vin tag details matched up with blitz interior I'm in no doubt she was genuine, the real deal. I know if I had it it would need to be a full bare metal restoration, lots of welding and Pannel fitting, long term project but would have been worth it! , I can only hope he has a change of mind and contacts me again regarding a deal as he has my details!
