yeti132
Can anyone give me advice for a replacement fuel tank for a manta A running fuel injection system old tank rusty regards Gary
611
Hey Gary I have seen people use the B series tank and pop it in the boot behind the back seat (a bit like it is in the B but im not sure how you sort out the filler) The last few A series in Germany ran the injection and here is the difference between the standard tank and how they did the injection one, so you could find another A tank and have it modified? http://www.theopelproject.com/shop-manual/opel-manta-a-series-injection-fuel-tank.pdf Andy
Shug
I drilled a hole in the sender, attached an extra pipe and covered the join in tank sealer. Been working fine for years now.

YOPANEWSHAM
How rusty is it? Completely gone or could it be worked on. My old tank on a B model was rotten in places areas of around an inch or two. So ground back and silver solder. I'm unsure on all the regulations but could you not fabricate a copy in ally or stainless with a water test? cam.in.head
There is a service called "renew" by which the tank is cleaned of all rust, epoxy coated and given a lifetime guarantee. It used to be done by northern radiators acting as agents i beleive so there may be someone still offering this service .
lamchop77
Get some Bilt Hamber Deox C, blank off all pipe exits/sender unit/etc apart from the filler neck. Fill it with the Deox C mixture and leave it for 24 hours. That will sort any rust in the tank and will also show up any leak points. Did it with the tank in my moggy minor and had no probs with it. cam.in.head
yesh forgot about deox stuff. it works wonders but also so does the base ingredient if you just buy it too. oxalic acid. i suppose you could then fill the tank with petrol proof epoxy paint as a safer option to welding up .ive heard tanks keep fumes in them for ages snd require a realy good flushing out first
Shug
I used por15 tank sealer. Seems to be good stuff. Still have half a tin as I didn't think the quantity they suggested was enough. It was.

I bought some phosphoric acid too recently to try as an alternative to expensive bilt hamber stuff <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BoPlsitDZ9Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>http://<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BoPlsitDZ9Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BoPlsitDZ9Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
