Monaco Blue
An interesting conversion. Can't help think it would have been worth more with the CIH in-situ. Looks nice nevertheless. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-MK-1-Cavalier-classic-car-/133788349090
Trooker
I remember seeing this advertised a few years ago & thought the zetec an unusual choice then but I guess given all the mk2 escorts etc that had redtops & manta ‘boxes for a while, why not 🤷♂️
Sutty2006
A friend of mine was going to put a red top in his Capri because it was the cheaper than zetec option. But that was before prices went through the roof. I like a modern engine in an old car, but could have left the injection system on it, or a better air box as the original looks out of place now. And with the addition of the type 9 box I bet he impales his hand on the gear lever every time he goes for a spirited 1st - 2nd change 😂
cam.in.head
the car itself looks spot on. (hopefully ok underneath)but with missing chrome trim a sportshatch looks unfinished. wouldnt take too much effort to get it finished properly. mudflaps changed, chrome trim, wheel trim rings, writing on hatch removing etc.and yes 100% stick a cih in it with the proper gearbox ! my opinion obviously and credit to the owner for saving it from the scrappers
plumster
Sportshatch really looks barren without wheel arch & body trim, also badly needs the chin spoiler. And........ that wonky rear number plate would do my ead in. 😆😆😆
cam.in.head
definately ! the more you look at this the more it looks like its been rushed back together. no one would do all that work to it and then spoil it by fitting those hideous mudflaps ,decals and wonky number plate.just makes you wonder what else is not right.it needs the proper cih and box, console, heater ,trims, etc then its well on its way to being a decent motor .
GTEPETE
Does it include the RS2000 in the photo? I like the simple front engine mounting, this method is popular when American V 8s....
cam.in.head
yeah saw that ,no idea what its actually for thou as you can also see the other engine mounting in the normal place ? all i can say is if its as good as it looks and has been repaired properly under the paint then it could be made into a very good car. i even think it looks ok in the shade of blue that its been done in.and the interior looks near perfect. just needs a weekend spending on it trimming it up correctly and then if the owner so desires converting back to correct engine/ box etc . not a great deal of work to do but that would definately be my choice. nice to see the cavs popping up now and again .
