Not good - have replaced throttle position sensor. I have changed the fuel, put super unleaded in - getting plenty of fuel but plugs are very damp. I have cleaned them and towed it to get it going. It seems to be over fuelling.  Then I discovered there was oil in the intake manifold pipe. Have taken dipstick out - showing too much oil. It seems to be putting fuel into the sump. Have been trying to get this going a week but no joy. Changed the oil and cleaned plugs again and still won’t go. Anymore help be appreciated

Have you ga d the fuel lines off?  Could be wrong way for return. Otherwise it might be something to do with return line pressure, either blockage or regulator. You can check return fuel line is passing by using bit of hose off regulator into a Jerry can

Yes have done this, did not even think about it just refitted the pipes

I have checked the pipes and they are ok. I have put the flow into a Jerrycan and put in a dry set of plugs and it starts right away for a few second’s. I then put the flow pipe on and put the return in to the jerrycan but it won’t start again. When I take the plugs out they are soaked in petrol. Any more ideas? This all happened from I removed air flow sensor to try on another car.

If you pull the plug on the air flow meter it should still start but run like crap, but if you have burnt it out it could explain the overflow of fuel as the AFM does direct gave the most control of the injection pulse length (fuel demand) on the LE Jetronic system

hi. cannot see it affecting running but make sure the throttle switch is adjusted so you hear a click as the throttle is just opening and a click when it shuts. thats first thing.

have you got another control relay to try (or put a link across 30 and 87 and 87b to power up the system.

also ovefuelling can be if the temp sensor has gone open circuit. on a 2.0 it should have a resistance across the 2 pins but not to earth of a few k ohms. if this was faulty it would think the engine was super cold !

and again as mentioned earlier make sure the fuel pipes are the correct way round. (not as haynes diagram)

feed goes to the 't'piece and the return to the tank goes to the pressure regulator.

also remember SOME parts are not interchangeable between early j jetronic and later le jetronic such as control relay, injectors to name a couple. ( early systems wouldnt be found on a normal gte 83 onwards anyway but worth mentioning as we had an issue years ago with a 79 versus 83 senator.the system used low voltage injectors and an inline resistor block)
