H-400
Not a fan of those kits, the result is your engine sucks hot air of the engine bay in. This is just what you don't want.
Vince
I'm sure I've got one on my shelf in the garage I won't use. Wouldn't want anything near that price for it if someone wants one.

This is just what you don't want. But this has a hose to place the filter in a similar position to a stock pancake one. Where else you you get air from than the engine bay, short of fabricating your own scoops etc.
cam.in.head
as mentioned above . too much hot air from engine bay. original is obviously piped in from behind the front panel to get fresh air. plus have i read that any other air filter than standard throws the mixture out of whack anyway unless you start playing with airflow meter settings on injection or jets on a carb ? Yes and no. As not all paper elements are equal. The AFM job is to match the air/fuel so any more airflow at a particular rpm should be still metered (or decrease if paper element is getting choked up). Also there is a small but noticeable’ram’ effect for faster moving vehicles with the trumpet in the nose. Slightly better positive pressure hel- with airflow. But as you say, most any gains are quickly lost if not taking advantage of the cooler air from outside the engine bay. Personally the K&N element was best option, and reusable too. Not even sure if these are available. edit, seem to be 👍 https://www.knfilters.co.uk/opel/manta-b/2.0l-l4-petrol/1987/
