H-400
Hi everybody, Saturday the 5th of May we were invited to a meeting in Holland. As titled this was a event about everything with wheels. Truckracers, 4 x 4 of roads, track cars , Dakar desert racers, everything! We were invited on a "400" stand: Enjoy the pics. First of all, our engine needed new oil & filter, after that I went to the MOT station and without any remarks good for another two years👍. For those who are interested: I use an oil filter of Mahle partnr. OC79, they are a bit longer so keep more oilvolume. This Lease/Plan Manta is a replica build by a good friend and is a well known car in the oldtimer rally world. As also the Ascona 400 R. 400 R with a straight 6 cilinder 3.0E engine. I'm not a fan of this heavy lump on the front axle but nice and tidy Yes I know this is an Opel forum, this little Mk1 looks so nice... What is common? Walter Rohl with Opel and Audi Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, A lot will not know this car, a DAF (Holland) with variomatic Mini power Opel power 😁 Corsa power I remember those old petrol 2.3 Unimog's. Still hat them when I went into the army in '82. So good in rough terrain as also when I served in Somalia Defender, needs no words. One of the best all terrain jeeps I used. And back at the Opels, we had a nice day and sunny weather. Have a nice weekend, Herman Edited May 11 by H-400 7

I rem an old dude when I was younger always working on his gearbox as it had thrown a belt and my uncle saying how bad it was, not like the old DAF . I always thought he meant a truck lol

I guess not so different from an American company with a German label building cars in Belgium 🧐😂 1
Limeysore
Volvo bought Daf’s car division in 1975. The first of the Volvo Daf’s was the 66 series which was basically an evolution of the Daf 55. All of the four cylinder versions of the Daf’s (early cars only sported two cylinder motors) used a Renault 1300cc engine hooked up to the variomatic transmission system. My Mother owned a 76 Volvo 66, basically a Daf with the typical Volvo safety upgrades. All in all it was a pretty good little car until my kid brother cooked the head gasket and warped the head. 1
®evo03
Daffy Duck was on, TV bangers and cash, old guy had one, as he had mobility issues, old tech helping an old age issue. 😎 Presenters had an issue explaining how it worked.

Jessopia74
Interesting stuff. DAF + Renault = Volvo ! 😮🤣 Funnily enough, I did know that the 340 used a Renault engine, but thought they had conventional gearbox. My mate had one for his like second car, a complete rot box. My god we must have welded an extra 1/2 ton of steel sheet on that 🤣 He could get free offcuts from his work, but thinest was 1mm 💪😁 1
