HECK!!! one hell of a project there, and looking at all the welded box section I thought I was back at work for a minute there.

Apologies as a constructive criticism is coming here, as in my employment I handle, cut and weld box section, and I have a damn good idea about the serious amount of weight you have added there, I'm just a bit puzzled as to why you did not use smaller section in certain areas to save weight and you would not have losed any rigidity. Believe me I know what I'm talking about and looking at your work I know you do too.

Awesome looking car mate :thumbup

Awesome looking car mate thumbsup.gif hi opel 2000 i do not know what i am doing first time i have weded and done this i was given that box section for fixing a car for some one i am a diagnostic specialist when the car was fully built with all windows and all the parts my pal weighed it on digital scales and it was some thing like 1075 kgs i agree it is heavy chassis wise but there is no weight in the body shell regards william

Thats way lighter than i was expecting with all that extra steel in it :)

The standard manta weighs a little over 1000kgs according to the haynes manual, so thats bloody good considering.

And as for it being the first time you've done something like that :o:o

Thats just amazing.

How long do you think it will be till it see the road now?

William, I am awestruck at this, especially for a first time job. We met earlier in the year at Doune. Looking forward to seeing this on the road and at some of the shows next year, this will be a car which attracts a LOT of attention. Make sure you factor in some heavy duty security.

Nice bit of fabrication there!!!!!!! Looks cool as.

One question though, where do you stand with gettin something as modded as that through MOT and road legal? I only ask because i've always fancied doing something similar (well maybe not the cossie motor!!) but have shyed away because of the DVLA regs.

hi as far as i know because it has plates already it technically req a mot ,but if you read the rules about points for modifications, i e suspension chassis and so on it could possibly req a sva. i fixed a car for a local vosa official who has a cobra kit car and he said it would req a mot in his opinion. and because the stainless steel sheeting that covers the floor from underneath they could not fail the chassis for corrosion p.s i will probably be dead before the chassis corrodes i hope i do not want to do it all over again

I would have thought it would need an sva as none of the running gear is std and the car is now basically a space frame. I need to look into the sva stuff as thoughts are now whizzing round my head about what i could do with my old coupe........DAMN YOU!!!!!

Keep up the good work.
