GG-CJ956
Hello everyone! My name is Martin, I am 16 years old and living in Sweden! I have been here for a while, but i wanted to share my project with you guys overhere! First of all, my english is not very good. Some of the text are written in Google Translate And also, this whole first update in tgis following text where written by me for about a year ago in my Thread at the TotalOpel forum! My grandfather worked at Opel when my dad was young and that is why my family has always had various Opel models. My dad built his first car back in 1986 when he was 16 years old, an Ascona B 400 Replica widened with homemade metal arches. (With Irmschers small windsplits and the small Irmscher rubber wing) He still owns the car today, and in 1996 it was rebuilt with the real 400 arches in fibreglass and got repainted in the same paint, white paint with yellow Opel Euroteam stripes. When I was little, we took it for a ride sometimes and it was obviously among the best there was for me! "It left its mark" can I say! Since he began building his first car when he was so young, we had begun to talk about what I wanted as my first car When I was 11 I had decided what i really wanted: "Dad, I want a Manta!" The next year we went to Sweden's capital, Stockholm, and bought my first car! Just a few days before I turned 12 haha! An white Opel Manta B Berlinetta -77 with only about 52000 miles on the meter The plans were already defined, Swedens best Manta 400 replica with 2 litres 16v! Some pictures of the car how it looks "today": The white Ascona is mine to, i bought it for a couple of months ago. The White/Yellow one on the left is my dads. (The strictly white Ascona is now sold to finance another, more expensive parts for the Manta! ) Some pics of the first donor car, an 1987:s GSi Exclusive: Totally rotten, been parked on grass since 1997! I took some interior parts and the rearaxle etc for the project car. The second donor car, That had also been parked on a lawn: But this one had doorpanels without speakerholes :
GG-CJ956
And the last donor car was a Astra saloon converted with C20XE. I bought car to take the engine: I have two C20XE DIS, one of them, will be in the car when its getting registration inspected, and the other one will be tuned! Standard engine: The engine that will be tuned: Some "candy" for it: The camshafts are from the Swedish tuning company ENEM. The engine test mounted: Getrag 230 gearbox and Manta GSi propshaft fitted without any problem. Some pics of the parts i have bought to the car: Front brakes and shock-absorbers from an Ascona 400 A "couple" of wheels. 32 to be precise Unfortunately only one 8jx15 and no 10jx15. Driveshafts from an Ascona 400. 2 blitz interiors, one was fitted in the white Ascona when i bought it and the second one is a complete interior with floorcarpet, panels, floor/gear console etc from an Manta i400 -83 And some luggage decor from an Manta i400, carpet and panel in front of the tank. Fog light from an Manta i400, what do you think about that? Alot of other parts is ofcourse bought, both 400 genuine parts and others, i just dont have any pics of it. It was very hard to write everything we've done with the car in the recent years in English so it is a short version of it all, but I hope you have found it a bit interesting anyway! I will continue to update here when something happens, even if it does not happen so often as I go to school everyday and build on the car when there is time for it. I was going to this post with some picture of how it will be with 8jx15 wheels in front: If you wonder anything, ask!
GG-CJ956
"it's been a while since I wrote here, but to be really honest we havent done so much work on the Manta as we originally planned to do this summer. I have worked almost the whole summer to be able to buy expensive Opel parts But i can show you atleast a little progress: This is how the car looks right now, like an empty dead shell  We have repaired most of the rust that the car had, its only the bagagefloor and a litte work around the windows left. The arches have been worked on to, but i dont have any never Picture than this one at the moment: I have also resprayed my original Manta/Ascona 400 front brakes And as i love the original look... We have an good friend that will make an dream of mine come to reality: Down-cut C30SE 24v cylinderhead: CIH 16v! The cylinderhead will be mounted on an Omega CIH 2,4 l block, and the gearbox will be an Getrag 265. I want my car to be an good Replica, almost like an clone of the original! This was all from me for now

I love your project, when i see your work and progress i get more motivated to work on my own Manta! Excellent work. You have got some very nice parts for your project. What did you do with the ENEM c20xe inlet manifold and cams? Thank you! I still own the ENEM cams and manifold, but i will sell them and the both C20XE engines as soon as the shortened cylinderhead are back to my garage. I will keep them until that as a safety if the CIH 16v head never will be finished.. i do not want a car without an engine That's very smart and some other nice cars too. Somebody has taste. Thank you, i appreciate it! The good taste for cars runs in my blood! Hi love your car . I'm looking for ONE 10" RONAL to finish a set for my car do you know off anyone that can help me thanks Thank you! unfortunately i dont know about any more Ronals, im sorry!
GG-CJ956
Thank all of you for your comments! :) We made some progress on the bodykit last night. The rearfenders looked like crap at first, no fittment at all! But we modified this one and warmed it so now this one looks pretty good to me! The front part of this rearfender will need some filling tough. The cylinderhead was emptied of contents and was picked of the block: And also some bonus pictures, it may not be that interesting for everyone.. But atleast I love to see Manta's and Ronal's on the same picture I looking forward to see it on the ground with these wheels Edited December 14, 2013 by GG-CJ956

GG-CJ956
Thank you guys!! Some progress was made after school today: The arch needs to be warmed to fit better to the bodyfender. Thats all for now, i will hopfully post here again before the week is over, i have bought some parts for it to look more like the original car!
GG-CJ956
With some heat on the arches it started to look okay. Some work needed here to make the lace look better. On this side to! The front fenders have been fitted more correctly.. it's not perfect yet though.. Just so we can see how much time we will need to spend on the sideskirts to make it look as good as i want it, some work is required.. but not that much! I have also decided a long time ago that i will throw away the plastic trunk with integrated 400 spoiler in order to use the better looking rubber original piece. I may have the possibility to buy an trunk and rubber spoiler that comes from an genuine Manta i400 roadcar, but it's a little sacky and deformed as you can see in this picture: What can i do to make this look like new again? Take it off the trunk and put it in warm water? Put some weight on it? Or is it useless to even try to save it? And also, i have some sad news. The Swedish car inspection do not accept my engine plans by several reasons... So my plan for now is to mount the C20XE and registration inspect the Manta with it, and after that i can run the car for 2 years until i need to take it in for inspection again... so we will see what will happen to the CIH 16v engine... The engine will be built anyway that is something that's sure...!

YES !!! we are interested ! who wouldn't be interested in a Manta this good. Your Manta is a very convincing replica, very nice, especially because it is built by someone so young.
