Jessopia74
Engine should sit pretty far back in that modded bay, light enough engine anyway, but will really help with weight Ballance 👍
®evo03
5 stud, what hubs are used ? Brake disc model, size, caliper details would be welcome. Great project.
h0tr0dder_uk
I bought the hubs off TJM. https://mantaclub.org/profile/553-tjm/ Discs and calipers really depends on your setup. I went with 5 stud ford hubs so I could fit the wheels I wanted. So I got the brake hats and rotors for a 2006 ford mustang. Calipers are Wilwood Dynalite and I had to make a custom bracket to fir them.
h0tr0dder_uk
Finally back on the car after a few weeks off following laser vision surgery. Finished up the offset brake pedals. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FzEvCN6gCzd8NygaymLZaQSc75RrJtEc/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FyBdg1NCmbaBvjnjH8CcE39uPr1zguaV/view?usp=drivesdk Now that they're finally in place I could continue with the firewall build. Last 3 panels still need a little trimming before welding in place. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Fx9C8iUgDUIqjnJGpJ_zXCHPzhra6-ZN/view?usp=drivesdk
Jessopia74
That firewall move really improves the space in the engine bay by quite a large amount, but from inside does not look like it would cause too much of a constraint. However, those offset pedal would take some getting used to. I find driving cars that have the steering wheel that feels offset to pedals pretty annoying. Hard to judge from picture angle. But this is a different case ofc 😎 Fun factor 100 😂
cam.in.head
i think a lot of cars (viva hc for eg) in the 70's have the steering wheel offset to the pedals and forward facing seat but you get used to it, never notice it now when i swap cars.
h0tr0dder_uk
My e46 bmw m3 had pedals that were offset too.
h0tr0dder_uk
So I had a change of mind and decided to cut the front off my Manta https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LhdI9zzgW1EyR1m3Irvmp9i-dDBE4Wqc/view?usp=drivesdk So I had to make some new panels to fill the hole and add back some strength https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LYNzNP6UeXtQ5AvhuWJbS9dyhxI7uWyF/view?usp=drivesdk Then I could refit and paint the original turbo front spoiler https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LZarjW4800gjyI1-dqeAdkWfQkfm5Es-/view?usp=drivesdk So this means I had to fit a smaller intercooler. Hope it's up to the job https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LcL9n-eYT9--ELNEUcQhXQXOMfdRhJ4A/view?usp=drivesdk

I thought you were cutting at the bulkhead!
h0tr0dder_uk
It's about time for an update. House and yardwork put the Manta on the back burner but I have made some progress. I finished a full rebuild of the suspension, with all new ball joints, poly bushes, shocks, bump stops etc. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GiNezeVyrCGxJmqgzlliO1mLPVA8RqjT/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1meRuDS10p09hvPVNz62_bqLFx35dD2hh/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/19Js7cSneYhVlgn2706OHr6b1mLCjpmZ5/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yzvBZyWXjPWmBGnci2tZGonYyJq9HEky/view?usp=drivesdk I also finished fully welding in the new firewall and am now working on finishing the transmission tunnel welding.

Jessopia74
Top work. I Need some new arms as I have same issue on my 400 with the early hubs and slightly lower steering rack. I did chop/weld one to get the correct angle, just not around to having it drawn up ready to be machined. However, those extended ball joint fixing you have look quite sturdy. Not sure how strong they are are overall with knocks etc? They a long term solution you think ? (added pic so you know what part my rambling is about) Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member.

The steering arm extenders were suggested to me by a friend that runs a professional hot rod fabrication shop. They look really strong but ultimately I might try to get some new steering arms fabricated. 1

The MantaA/ AsconA and I guess GT stub axles/uprights have bolt on steering arms, so that might help you too?
h0tr0dder_uk Posted Sunday at 02:13 Author Share Posted Sunday at 02:13 Finally got some time in the garage and was able to weld in most of the remaining sheet metal. Just need a few more pieces to finally make it waterproof. Then seam weld and seam seal it all before painting it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qvlk-GeZq9hg0VLIwDyXnpvHfTEodM1N/view?usp=sharing
