Danny D114BCW
19 fails on the MOT. Not too bad, some welding (not loads but a fair amount), lights want a going through (quads going in) and the brakes need a good going through so all in all it should be on the road in a few weeks and then off to paint in June.

Danny D114BCW
So it has all been welded, talk about a pile of rust on the floor. Anyway it's all rust treated inside and out. New wing, lowered, exclusive bits added! 400 mirrors on. Next is the interior to put back in. Wire up the lights and fog light in tear reversing light. Danny D114BCW
Today's work was rust proof and paint the floors inside. And then refit the interior. Items this week are front lights, new bumper, fog light mod, side repeaters and radio. Then fettle the running issue (think its the fuel relay) anyway it's another one dragged from hiding & being put slowly back on the road. Monaco Blue
It's looking good! and even better once it's all painted. I'm coming around to the dash mouldings etc! Are the seat bolsters grey or beige? .....or just grubby?
Danny D114BCW
Beige. Even the carpet is a tinge of brown. When I put it back in today I thought "this is rare, where would you get another" be a nice car when it's done. Been restored right. Will last years for the new owner.

I suppose it does have the rarity bit going for it. I read a comment on the Facebook OMOC re the GTE below. A possible buyer was only interested if it had the beige interior! Its not for sale yet as i need to get through the to-do list and then paint it along with using it a bit so I know everything is right and its reliable before it finds a new home. Been re-reading through the tread again. Re your query as to how many GTE's were registered in 1988: If you look at the figures quoted above, there were 1533 Mantas registered in 1988, 1414 of these were Exclusives, which I assume actually means both Exclusive GT hatches and GTE Exclusives (coupes) rather than just GTE Exclusives, as he then says 46% of buyers preferred the Coupe to Hatch, and as we know there were no GTE Exclusive hatches apart from the 86MY Irmscher batch. Subtract one from the other and you are left with 119 which presumably can only be non-Exclusive GTE's as there were no other models available by that time, albeit there might have been a few old model GT hatches still in the system but I would suspect not. Danny D114BCW
Well I got the car back last night and it's looking great. It needs a good clean but that can wait. Today was a long hard day but I have done most of the work now. I just need to source a side repeater as body shop broke it! And then it new rear cylinders, radio, decals and off for an MOT! MANTAMAN
If this was my Manta and i was intending to keep it i would be so tempted to paint the wheel centres body colour, i did this on a grey hatch back in the 90's and it looked great. Danny D114BCW
It will be for sale unfortunately, bought a new house forces sale and i want to get my coupe done and dusted.
Danny D114BCW
So the car is all built up now and just requires a good wash! but of course there is as always with these cars a sting in the tail; it wont start without bridging fuses 5 & 6 It wont start at all once hot or if it does start, drives like a pile of poo! so i have ordered a new fuel reg and coolant sensor. Fingers crossed that cures it!
The General
Does the car turn over OK when hot or does it crank very slow or not crank at all?
Danny D114BCW
It either doesn't run at all or splutters and coughs
The General
When you turn the key to the second position does the fuel system pressurise? Do you hear the pump prime up and then cut out?
Snowy
Have you checked the thermotime switch is turning the fifth injector off? Or that the fifth injector isn't constantly leaking. I usually just clamp the popen off.
Danny D114BCW
Yeh all thats fine. I am not really stuck, i am pretty sure its the fuel reg as it starts when the fuses are bridged and ticks over fine. When its warm it either cuts out or drives like a pig.
