frustratedmantagte
Thought I would share this with you all. Have just bought an 82 Berlinetta. Not got the SR badge - just S. one little old lady from new 8608 miles all the old MOT's and a copy of the bill of sale - she wouldnt let me have the original - as its the last car she will ever own. 12mnths MOT and 6 mnths tax!! No rust at all - even the chassis leg bolts are clean. Starts 1st time - just needs a service, and a damn good clean and the rear springs changing as they appear to have sagged she may have kept golf clubs or other gear in the boot. It was a shame to take it out of her garage as it is nicer than mine! I will post pics later. The car will be at Luton and Billing.. It isnt really what I wanted. I was after a later 'B' but this came up, so I will get it and keep my options open until one comes up that I really want.. It seems a shame to do anything to this car as it is completely original, there is even some plastic stuck behind the drivers door lock from when it was new.. neil.manta@googlemail.com
MrCarlos
This car sounds great - where on earth did you manage to turn this one up? And dare I ask what you paid? frustratedmantagte
Her son contacted me. Its only 10 miles from my house. It is really nice nick, but its not really what I wanted. I prefer the later B's. It has rubber bumpers, plastic air filter box so must be one of the last 2 slot nose cone cars. My wife thinks I bought a pig in poke as the rear springs are too low (have ordered new ones). She hated my old Berlinetta and Exclusive but she prefers them to this! Have explained no rust in a Manta is v.rare. Will post pics later neil.manta@googlemail.com

1900SR
I love that car! As far as I know very few Mantas were sold on an X plate, the only other one I remember seeing was a black hatch that was on e-bay over 3 years ago. I was outbid on it before I got my A. I look forward to seeing the car at Billing. omoc 5660,Cambridge & The Fens Area Rep. frustratedmantagte
This car has is a Berlinetta S. Not an SR - whats the difference. It has a rev counter which according to the web site means its ltd edition? Where the last few early B's a ltd edition? Any ideas on a postcard please.. neil.manta@googlemail.com
entwistlecymru
I think I'm right in saying the difference between the last SR and Berlinetta is that the SR had lowered and uprated suspension and a chin spoiler. The Berlinetta was the luxury model and the SR was the more sporty one. The interior was the same though. Guest
The SR was an uprated suspension pack, think all the last manta B had front chin spoiler, it became standard in late 81. So this should be the same as an SR but minus the suspension. chrisb
stradacab
I understood the SR Berlinetta was one model and the SR chassis pack was an extra cost option. As it is such a late car maybe they just ran out of "Manta SR" decals and stuck whatever was left on the boot! Great find though, if you get bored of it let me know, I'd love an X reg
frustratedmantagte
It will be at Billing/Luton. If you like it make me an offer. neil.manta@googlemail.com

MantaMad
A nice Manta, brings back memories of my own 1981 X reg SR Berlinetta hatch. I think mine sat a bit lower though. David OMOC Member 420 http://www.mantamad.fsnet.co.uk
Irmscher Man
Nice one.....you are indeed a bucky lastard finding that beast......lovely car. Must be quite a rare colour that. I think I've only ever seen one before this...(perhaps that was yours chris - can't remember). I like the plastic bumpered B's - there is something a bit special about them as they are a bit of a rarity now. I'm looking forward to seeing that at Billing. BTW - Isn't it about time that someone set up a B series register ? It would be great to keep some records of what is left. Cheers, Paul. OMOC Chairman. Guest
Sadly wasnt mine paul, there used to be a hatch in this colour turn up at billing, but not for a few years, mine ended up in a 100 mph head on crash with a f**d, and bent every panel except the boot lid!! any other less well built car and the police said Deb and myself would have been dead! chrisb
frustratedmantagte
Any idea how many of these B's are in the club? Or how I could go about finding where this was in the production run? neil.manta@googlemail.com
