AMG Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Was out on a run with the Irish Escort club on Sunday, and got these 2 pictures taken, so thought I'd share them! Car also won a prize for "best of the rest" (open category as long as it wasn't a mark 1 or 2 Escort), so the Ford boys must know a good car when they see one!!! Edited August 30, 2011 by AMG 1 Quote
couperman Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Sweet Motors, noticed you changed the 2 slot for a 4 slot nosecone on the manta, never seen this thread before but is the main reason I didn't believe it was actually the same car!!! AMG Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 (edited) Now that the Manta 400r is pretty much complete, we thought it was time to turn our attention to the Ascona 400r. Car is in fairly good nick, but the paintwork never really pleased us, so its getting a full rub down and new coat of white. Undecided whether or not to do it exactly as it was before, or to paint numberplate/rear light surround, bumper stripes etc in black. TheRealExile Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Beautiful car, stunning! Looks great in white. #Asconaporn Quote
AMG Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Thanks all, really happy with the black bits on the bumpers and back panel, was very unsure whether to do it or not, but think it all works well with the darkened headlights. When you see it painted, makes me realise just how badly it needed it, so much sharper looking now. Quote
robah Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Very nice and well presented car , can I ask what tyres sizes are you using on the back, if you are using 9" wide 15 wheels? Quote
AMG Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Running 8" up front and 9" on the rear. From memory the tyres are 255/50/15 but I must check that the next time I am out, they may be 225!! Quote

I have 225/50/15's on the rears (9") on mine and they are slightly stretched, I am looking for anything from 235 to 265 for the rears but can't find anyone or anywhere that do those sizes on the interweb. I know Toyo have the R888? type of tread on a 235/50/15 but I am looking for a better all-round item. Quote

Checked at the weekend there, they are 225/50/15's on it, probably is a very slight stretch on them but nothing major. Thanks for the info on the tyres, I have Falken 225 tyres (can't remember the type/tread) on the rears, the tyre firm took 40 minutes to fit one tyre as the side walls were tough. I might have to think of a different approach when replacing them next by either going up a size (all-round) or getting a spacer and 8" wide on the rears. Quote
