Opel Ascona 2 Door

Recommended Posts

Hmmm It's hard to put a value on it in todays money considering they were selling for crazy prices less than 18 monthes ago. As the seller has riightly pointed out "most of the hard work, has already been done". It looks pretty solid :thumbup If I had the money! I would consider a wee bid ;) Good to see wee Ascona's are still poping-up :D

i have seen this shell and believe me its not over priced at all. where would you get an almost rust free shell to build into a rally/show car. if you look how much manta and asconas go for finished there is profit at the end if you have a stash of bits like most on here have. if you dont want it dont slag it off as too expensive just look and wish you could have it  .

Wish someone spoke these words of wisdom when I was selling my mint Ascona 2 door a few months ago.

The slating my ad got was inexcusable.

If people don't like what they see, thats their problem, no reason to insult or offend other users.

At times, I'm shocked and suprised at the way insults are thrown over the forums at people.

It serves no good, it achieves nothing.

Just out of interest what sort of parts are so hard to get for a 2 or 4 door ascona 'B' ????

Shell looks tidy, best of luck with your build.

no i was not 'slagging' this car off , what i meant was , that is quite a lot of money for a car in bits. and yes i do know about Asconas and (restoring cars)as i used to own a 2 door, if you can't make comments on a forum whats the point in having one?

the forum went through a stage of persons just slagging off stuff for sale just for the sake of it that is why the club tries to promote positive comments. if you had something for sale and people just slagged it off or said it was too expensive you would possibly take offence and get upset, so moral of this is remember what is written cannot show what context is was ment to be said in so to treat others how you would expect to be tret and it will be a good place to have positive talk and swop ideas and parts. ;)

I bought the car on the strenght of the ad,thinking that it probably needed a bit of work.I must say I was more than Impressed when the car landed here as it only needs welding on the driver's footwell, which was clearly shown in the photos on the ad.If it had've been a shell that i viewed before purchase i would've had no hesitation in paying far more for it than what it cost me.:thumbup

I would have no hesitation in reccomending this seller to anyone,he even delivered the shell to the nearest Motorway services free of charge as it was being collected by an Articulated Transporter.

I dont like people slating other peoples ads,if they haven't seen whats on sale.Just remember that anything is only worth what a purchaser is willing to pay.

I could easily have bought a shell for half the price, and then spend a thousand or more on welding and getting straight panels to get to the stage that this car is in.

Thanks Andy,another satisfied customer.:thumbup

After getting back into Mantas in 2007, I've spent hunderds if not thousands of hours (well it seems like thousands of hours :D )looking at Manta's either online/car shows/looking to buy or spending the whole xmas 2009 holiday trying to weld one. So I could easily tell; it wasn't need much work to become a 'bog standard' road car. There is however two sides to this (in my opinion)! From a classic car/Manta/Cavalier prospective? It's slightly over valued! However from the market prospective; It's cheap! from a Rally view? it's 'bloody' cheap and it's sweetie money, compared to what some people pay for Evo's and other ugly 'as sin' looking Jap/Euro box rockets Ooooo and lets not forget what people pay for Escort MK1/2's either!!! :o

I've got two kids and a mortgage, so from my point of view; either an Evo/Escort or an Ascona rally car(s) it's 'crazy' money and you are all mad!! and I suppose there is other people like me! it's always worth remembering that ;) and never take online comments to heart :thumbup

Keith

PS Ascona owner's are always welcome too join up ;);):D
